I’m not looking to troll or anything like that, I would just like someone to please take a look at this combat log and possibly elaborate what this guy did. The last 10 or so entries happened in less than a second aside from the arc lightning at the end.

all I saw was him blink to me and I was instantly at 10% health. He did it twice the first time I think I had renewed focus up and barely survived log enough to down him ( we actually both went down. he got revived, then I self revived and ran away. then he came back about 30 sec later and did it again and I instantly dropped and rage quit.

I know those abilities are all instant cast or procs and he basically face rolled the keyboard to hit them all at once, but I"m not at all familiar with elementalist traits and I still can’t believe that much damage can be frontloaded in literally under a second from one class.

Phoenix isn’t instant. Fresh Air Build. Btw he kittened up the phoenix, it can hit x2 more if you aim it right.

That ele was built for burst.

But they drop like flies if you are skilled.

This is why i think hybrid or hybrid-tank based eles are fantastic in wvw. Best of all worlds.

Well dont worry, those guys are so squishy, if a thief looks them with side of his eyes, they will die and I like to see them pulling those combos when thief evading all the time

even though i have to admit, fresh air burst can be frighteningly strong, if you don’t know how to counter it, but to be honest, with a lvl 66 toon even a warrior could have bursted you down in approx 7 seconds. it doesn’t take much skill, when you’re equipped with ascended gear and stack sigils and bufffood etc.

Most classes can do 11k damage in 1 second. If you want to try it out with guardian, use a full zerker build and grab focus and Judge’s Intervention.

s/d ele works best when the enemy doesnt see u, probably best roaming partner would be a thief for de stealth , solo roam as s/d ele is rly tough cause anything that touches u kills u, but its awesome in a small team, u can pick and kill even rly bunkerish specced stuff

While ele can do this, it is not what hit rajule in the above screenshot. He got hit by Lightning flash→Air attunement→Lightning strike→Arcane blast→Phoenix.

The heavy golem kill is Hurl→Lightning flash→Earthquake→Arcane blast→Arcane Wave→Air attunement→Lightningstrike→Ride the Lightning

just keep pressure on him, he’ll back down or stay downed if ya do it right. Though there are scarier builds out there for elementalists the fresh air build is not to be underestimated. In the right hands it can turn someone near unbeatable.

You are at complete disadvantage if this took place in WvW. You are an uplevel and with low health. I’m surprise he didn’t instant down you in 1-3 skills only. Unless it is one of those Ele players that worry about survivability in a burst spec so they trait/geared for more than enough defense to make up for their lack of player’s skill. In spvp it can a be different case. Burst spec eles melt thieves even when they evade… It is all a matter of knowing when to burst to avoid failure.

Thanks for the responses. It was just my first encounter with such a build. I could tell he was squishy in fact when I downed him the first time I think most of my damage was retaliation as I was just trying to avoid him and heal back up. I don’t have extracts with me at the moment but I’ve been trying different specs. I have around 16k go but only 952 toughness and I run with hammer and vs right now. My build is setup to stack damage multipliers and vulnerability.

As far as naming people in posts you’re probably right and I’ll black out those names when I get home.

You just ran into a rather decent s/f ele is all. I say decent off the bat because your opponent utilizes lightning flash into his burst. It saddens me since he didn’t use gale to set the pheonix up properly tho ;x.

Anyways, same thing can happen against a thief or shatter mesmer… So just watch your surroundings more and get ready to pop defensive cds against a sceptor weilding ele ^^. We can’t stealth like mesmers or teefs, so we’ll try to hit you from behind your line of sight.

In a minute, you’ll either kill her or she’d run away like a startled mouse. I also notice you’re a guardian so I bet you’re not use to dying or a dodging a quick spike chain like that. The amount of D/D Elementalists I’ve hammered as a S/F Fresh Air Elementalist is countless. A well played S/F Elementalist will cycle through their repertoire of active defenses and out-pressure a D/D Elementalist. The lightning strikes alone from swapping into Air Attunement are enough to do the job. This is utilizing a Berserker amulet.

Mind you it takes a lot of hours practice to get to that point where a player can develop the muscle reflexes to use the appropriate defensive skills, because it’s so unforgiving, but a S/F Elementalist of the same skill level as an opposing D/D Elementalist will come out on top. You’ll miss that blinded fire-grab (which is already hardly difficult to land, they really need to work on making it more user friendly. Also no pun intended there).
