Here is what I suggest for PvE:

-Only use scepter in very organised groups and if you’re using lightning hammers
-Generally avoid using dagger offhand, focus has a longer fire field and offers more utility and blasts to stack might
-Use these traits if D/F:
6(V II XI)
6(VI X XII)
2(VI)

-Use these traits if S/F (change fresh air to arcane lightning):
6(V II XI)
6(VI X VII)
2(VI)
0

-Use these traits if staff ele:
6(VI VII XI)
6(VI VII XI)
0
0
2(V)

-For nourishment, the absolute best possible food that an elementalist can benefit from is Plate of Truffle Steak. If you’re looking to have a cheaper alternative, get Minotaur Steaks. If you are struggling to survive I suggest Slice of Candied Dragon Roll or Omnomberry Pie.

-Use berserker armor with Scholar Runes in group content, but Strength Runes are actually better for soloing. If you don’t solo much and aren’t very competitive, get Scholar runes.

-Sigil of Battle/Sigil of Strength/Sigil of Force/Sigil of the Night/Sigil of Accuracy are all great sigils for weapons.

Dagger fire circle lasts just as long as focus flame wall and is easier to blast in. Focus and dagger offhand both have two blast finishers, though focuses are faster.

I run D/F but use flame rushes fire field as I feel flame wall is too difficult to aim and blast in consistently in battle.

And for d/d you 6/6/2/0/0 is a better build. Cantraps aren’t as important as dodges.

I see that the build you are giving me have little health. So I’m wondering what is the importance of health for an elementalist?

Little. You can add some vitality with gems but it’s all about killing fast with an elementalist. You have little armor and little health so you want to do as much damage as fast as possible.

What about Plate of Steak and Asparagus? Would cost around the same as Minotaur Steaks, but offer better stats than those. 80 power and 60 precision add quite a bit more dps than 60 precision and 50 ferocity.

• D/F – 6/6/2/0/0 : Power/Prec food
• Scepter/LH – 6/6/2/0/0: Power/Fero food
• Scepter/LH – 5/5/2/2/0: Power/Fero food
• Scepter/LH – 6/4/2/2/0: Prec/Fero food
• Scepter/LH – 5/4/0/5/0: Prec/Fero food
• Scepter/LH – 0/5/5/4/0 or 0/4/5/5/0: Power/Prec food
• Staff – 6/6/0/0/2 or 6/4/2/2/0: Power/Prec food

General rule:

• Without Lightning Hammer or no points in Power trait line: Power/Prec food
• With Lightning Hammer (a huge boost of precision): Fero food with either Power or Prec/Fero food depending on the allocating trait points

agreed… Power first, prec next. I don’t trait for LH, its there if I am getting a little too beaten up.

These builds are for PVE and not good for WvW and zerg fighting. If your looking for WvW build as a ele you better have at least 1700 toughness and over 16k health. Majority of ele in WvW or even PVE are heavly traited in water and arcana. for example the 0/0/2/6/6 or 0/0/4/6/4. YOu see alot of rune of strength for might stacking easier for staff and dagger ele’s.
