Honestly I’d wait till the full expansion and we see Specializations before we really start talking about the meta and what will develop.
DD ele isn’t great I’d agree, but fresh air and staff are awesome. Abuse that icebow, pve for victory.
Too bad it’s not a fun gamemode in the slightest (to me).
Havent played it yet so I cant comment for sure, but I can imagine a glass cannon staff ele would destroy things in that map (as long as the thief doesnt get you first, but if nothing countered you it wouldnt be a very balanced game would it)

I disagree. My zerker staff elementalist was able to obliterate enemy NPCs from high ledges and overlooks. The lack of tankiness wasn’t very hard to deal with because of the gate portals that can be used to escape enemy bursts. You can also nuke things on the other side of the wall by casting your AoEs on the wall, so you can pretty easily kill the doorknockers without even stepping into your enemy’s view.
Also the vapor form trick that we do in WvWvW with the gate portals? It works here too.
I think any ele can work here, especially a bit supportive builds with staff which can heal and buff NPCs… even DD can be usefull, for example fast supply farming with RTL / LF / FGS combined with defending when required, arcane / water support can help your guards last longer
I use Celestial Staff ele and i can say it works great! I was able to walk the Hero…or w/e its called….. to the enemy lord but putting CCs on the enemy players trying to kill him and buffing the hero with speed regen and protection. We then killed the lord with 3 enemy players on us. So OP i think you just need more time on the map to see how you can benefit as an ele. It is definitely a different play style to get used to.

right now i see roles as being defenders attackers and carriers. You have people dedicated to killing all npcs/enemies coming to your gate, people dedicated to defending their npcs while killing defenders and then you have ppl that escort/grab supply. Eles would make good escorts and supply grabbers. They would make decent defenders as d/d cele. Scepter eles would most likely play a role in offense.

I found playing cele staff ele quite fulfilling. Good at averything: support/escort/buff/heal party and ranged control/dps over ennemies. We just lack interrupt skills against channelling players though.

Placing Unsteady Ground at the channeling position, it will prevent channeling for 3-4 seconds. Alternatively, turn into a Tornado to force a person who is channeling out to deal with you.

Ele is very good. D/D, staff and S/F are all viable (I tried out all of them) at this point.
S/F is great for taking out doorbreakers/guards
Staff is good as well for the AoE. The healing is especially good.
D/D does both well. In fact, D/D shines when it’s got room to move. You get much more use from the FGS and can be nearly impossible to kill.
The CC on all those weapon sets are good, as is the stability from Armour of Earth.
So no, ele isn’t weak in stronghold, you just have to play it right.
