They’re not going to buff ele’s best builds for pvp, certainly. They’ll nerf the condition meta instead, which is what’s holding air-burst eles back. Elementalists are very strong in pvp, but overshadowed by this meta, because their healing/ protection/ burst is countered by a meta driven by defensive condition builds and weakness/protection/poison.

See that is a problem. To be average, you have to use a gimmicky build and if you are not a fan of fresh air well you are pretty much left to play with your action figures.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.

Welcome to every single profession in gw2. Gimmick spirit rangers, gimmick stun-lock warriors, gimmick condi-burst necros, etc.
That beind said, you don’t need fresh air at all, unless you’re using focus. You can go for a s/d build with more points in water/ arcana.

Will (non-bunker) D/D become viable again? Will staff? I’m not trying to be mean; I’m still new ish to SPvP and I’m legitimately wondering.

Except that I hate arcana and water then what?

For the staff they already said that not all weapons are meant to be viable in every mode in the game (it was a direct respond about the staff).

So where is the Staff meant to be used then? to me it seems like anything less then zergs and spamming AoE it is useless…

You gotta ask the Jon #1 since he is the lead game design guy. He said it.

I too would like to play an ele without being dissolved by all the other classes. Please address imbalance by taking away all ele nerfs immediately.

Not going to happen EVER. Sorry but Anet is the WORST company EVER when it comes to Balancing, they might buff us at one point but they will nerf us at the same time and make us just as bad as we are now or even worse.
They clearly had no idea what the plan was for some of these classes because they cant even balance them. I just wonder how much time they spend PLAYING the game, because if they did they would actually SEE what they are doing to the game is just ruining it…
What? I destroy people with staff ele no meter which mode I’m in….

Sure, then you wake up and realize you were dreaming.

Possibly he doesn’t play in super high level pvp. A reason when my friend still plays staff ele in PvP since release (only ever changing for a flame axe S/D condition build every now and then).
I have never seen him die to the condition meta, rarely see him kill anyone by himself either, but that’s what happens when you play support.
I also don’t run Fresh Air, D/D, more then 10 arcane or more then15 water (don’t even have cleansing wave in my water traits) and necros are almost no problem for me.
Sophea Sladorian – Charr Ranger – [DECM] | Sea of Sorrows
Sophea Of Elements – Human Elementalist – [DECM] | Sea of Sorrows
It’s all about stacking combos really for me static field then earth 2 and 5 through static fields creates a decent stun with an awesome 6 stacks of bleeds then cripple and quick swap to water and drop water 2 and 4 ( water one skill for staff is really only for wvw gate ac spam protector) then quickly swap to fire and spam as many skills as possible and it puts most at 2/3 health and continue with controling the enemies movement. its all about war of attrition. I simply out live my opponents. I don’t need crazy damage fire five only crits about 1500-1600 each hit with full soldier gear running a 20/15/0/20/15. Using your utilities like mist form is good for survivability and then lightning flash to help save yourself from tight situations. And then I use arcane wave because its an amazing combo finisher.

Staff works very well in open world PvE, dungeons, fractals and WvW zerging. That leaves sPvP and WvW roaming (if you consider the latter a seperate thing).

For the staff they already said that not all weapons are meant to be viable in every mode in the game (it was a direct respond about the staff).
My objection to their response is based on the fact that they have kitted the class so that each weapon SHOULD to be viable. Why? Because we can’t just switch to another weapon as other classes can. We have no weapon swap to adapt as a situation changes. We have only our 20 skills that are supposed to be the equivalent of having an alternate weapon set, but are in fact just 20 skills that do the same thing and only function in one role.

Yep. Take the Dagger/Dagger combo, You Melee and ONLY Melee none of the skills really have any range option closest being Ride The Lightening, the rest require you to be in Melee range.
This alone means we are at a HUGE disadvantage against pretty much ANYONE that has a Range weapon option. Seeing as some of these same classes have silly range makers and gap closers in the SAME skill and with like 4x shorter cool down as our ONLY Gap closer (RTL) means we stand very little chance.
