hi fellow auramancers, i’d like to play my new tempest in the most supportive way and ask u old stagers for some tips. im quite aware of the functionality and impact of the build but im lacking the experience (especially since ive played only the exact opposite since beta: thief). yall know the build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vFAQJAodn0XC9XiVYCeOAcYilNAjYFcBqADPgAQB0dv+XPsA-TJRWABOUGw0TAwePAAA2fAA
appreciate any help and habits u learned in your time as an elementalist.
just think about the stuff u reckon to adapt to.

I prefer stone heart and using sage. Shure not as necro resilient, but can absorb direct damage in earth well and ist does more damage (adds condi). Ist personal preference. And for the necros. When you kill them you don´t wait for cleanse CD´s ^^.

if the sage amulet had the stats like on gw2skills i’d consider it but as this is not the case and i am loosing more then half of my healing power it misses my point. referring stone heart.. ive seen some auramancer running this instead of diamond skin. but if ur running 13k hp only i think diamond skin is the better choice (as of the health thershold). only theoretical of cause, considering the heal and possible 60% dmg reduction.

I usually run Cleansing Water instead of Powerful Aura, and “Aftershock” instead of “Feel The Burn”. I like to have good condi-cleansing and an on-demand Magnetic Aura.

Yannir for males. (guard,thief,war,ele)
Sonya for females. (necro,rev,ranger,mes,engi)
All classes lvl 80.

What yannir said is right. If you are the only ele on your team switch to cleansing water. Too much condi going around for you not to use it. If another heal ele is on your team take powerful aura.

The build is very straightforward. Stay out of damage and spam your auras to stay alive/heal allies. Try and overload water when you or teammates are low. Try to overload air when enemies are low or downed. The other overloads can be used as stunbreaks, but you probably won’t get much damage from them

Cleanse chill as much as possible and avoid the middle of the fight. Don’t overextend, especially when a dh is on the other team

If enemy team has two condi classes stack as much clear as possible and try to watch when you have damaging conditions to use it rather than mostly cover condis
Honest question so don’t flame me but is it just me or did all the condi builds start running rampant as soon as DS got gutted?

@Keadron No, you are just noticing them more. Mesmers did start to use condi builds after the last balance patch, but that’s just because their bunker meta was obliterated. Revs have mostly moved away from demon, since shiro is just plain more effective. Necromancers are still as they were before.

DS was a psycological trait that stopped condi classes, because they felt bad to get all thos “Invul” and had no way to win without power. It was the main change that made necro rise.

hold on guys i dont quite get it… isnt this build pointless without powerful aura as protect, vigor, regen, heal and the actual effect of auras only works on me not allies? i know, dead support is no support but if im not mistaken this whole build is about sharing your auras

shouts and the passive aura on Elemental Bastion are already shared without needing Powerful Aura

thus if condis are going to be an issue, cleansing water is better team support as your shouts will now clear 2 conditions instead of 1

also I think if you take cleansing water, you should take arcane instead of earth

oh ok u right there. sad theres no recharge reduction on shouts.

now after these days i feel a little more confident and tried some ranked matches.
and i noticed (if there is no aids condi pressure) besides the auras support im not quite sure what aura to provide to my mates in what kind of situations. sure, if a (ancient) bowranger bangs his salve away or the DH tickles me with his LB ill use magnatic aura. and if theres a thief or rev ill try to time shock aura to counter the burst. but what do u know else about the actual effect of the auras?

and another question, do u know good combos with lighting flash for (wannabe) bursts or instant buffs/supports? (u know, to precast and finish with LF infight)

Half the auras are rather useless so it doesnt matter. You will pretty much be using your shouts for healing allies rather than the actual affect it brings. If a teammate is being focused I like to use the frost shout since it gives them 3s of -50% damage.

Shocking aura is really good for stopping pressure on your team temporarily. I will usually pop shocking aura when the other team is trying to pressure us on the point hard.

Keep in mind that staying alive is more important so spam your auras if you have too. Also, it might be better for you to take cleansing water instead of powerful aura if you are the only ele on your team since it is far more helpful for staying alive.
