toughness? power? vit? crit?

I’m dying withing 3-5 hits from a mob my level, I’m using staff for pve

I’m just wondering what stats i should be looking at for my gear and what runes to point in them

i hear s/d was good to solo in pve, however i like to use staff and i mostly use fire

feel free to give me a few ideas to play around with,, thanks I am lvl 56

dagger/dagger is by far the best for pve and small pvp imo, really only use staff when you need some good aoe

that said your better off rerolling because as it is ele just suck compared to every other class

PvE staff is only good when you have some nuts with you that can save your behind.
Solo PvE staff is prolly the worst choice.
Dual Daggers work quite nicely, but again, depends a lot on atunement. They do amazing on fire, but you need to gear up with some toughness + vit or you won’t have a fun life.
The rest, pretty much like Anndy said: reroll something else if you want to have fun until either people figure out the elementalist or Anet is finally going to wake up and balance it at least in PvE

Largely depends on your play style, honestly there is no “one right way” to build a toon in this game. But toughness in my experience will get you more mileage than vitality though some of both is good. When I was leveling I used my armor/rings for dps stats and used my ears and neck for defensive stats it worked out fairly well.

Is it possible to get more boon duration or intelligence as a stat on weapons or armor? It seems strange and a little limiting that the only source is the arcane line.
