meteor shower effectiveness HALVED
Probably ought to wait for some damage calcs to come through. Anet says they reduced the number of meteors since they didn’t all contribute to damage, and that the area that each meteor affects has been increased.
Works better this way imo, more meteors actually hit the target standing in the direct center of it.

Number of meteors is halved, effectiveness isn’t. Without knowing the exact change in aoe size for each meteor before/after patch it’s impossible to say how the effectiveness changed.
They probably increased the radius of each meteor to be around 1.5x the starting value. That would make each meteor strike at least twice as much (Technically 2.25x) area as it did previously, anyways.
Edit: Granted, if they changed the way the meteors fall so it’s less biased towards the edges, that would probably constitute enough of an improvement as well. Like basketcase says though, we need the exact number to really make comparisons.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.

Since I only used Meteor Shower before for attacking stationary objects, I’ll wait until I actually use it before coming to a verdict. On paper though, the idea that the meteors will now strike a target in the center more effectively sounds good.
Maybe it was a mistake? They meant to remove the 24 non-damaging ones but accidentally removed the 48 damaging ones? If this does not change it is mind-bogglingly bad news giving that half of its effectiveness for me was in hitting structures since almost all meteors hit.

reading the patch i thought they meant that they would no longer show the meteors not hitting a target. If you watch the second video you can see each meteor hits a target and it hits more targets then the first one.
What i find strange is that it seems the duration of the meteor shower was lowered causing it to have less meteors.
I watched your videos. And you are plain wrong. If you count all the hits it’s 24 for each video. I fail to see where you get 48 from. At times multiple meteors hit the ground, but if you look, the damage is only attributed to one of them. You were assuming that only the final 24 meteors were just for show/ineffective, however, 24 of the 48 ones during the effective time period were also just for show. Watch the video again and you will see.
