First off, i’ll say even though it isnt the most effective weapon, I love playing staff. It seems like what skills a “mage” should be using. First off, I feel like its single target damage lacks in pvp, unless you are full glass, then it hits pretty hard but you often sacrifice much survivability for another gimmick fresh air wannabe build. I feel like there should be a grandmaster trait improving its single target damage while reducing its aoe damage, while avoiding the full glass setup.
Something along the lines of..
Staff attacks now deal 15% more damage to your target. Now deals 15% less aoe damage.
or
Staff attacks now deal 15% more damage with targeting abilitys. Fireball and Chain lightning no longer have an aoe effect.
Spells like lava font and meteor shower wouldnt be affected.
You could also tag lava font to either trait ideas; Changes lava font to no longer do damage but increases the damage from targeted abilitys by something like 10 – 25% for 3 seconds(stacks to 12 seconds if target stands if full lava font).. Without this trait lava font and fireball together probably will still do more damage together; if the target stays inside of it(not likely).
This is just some ideas being thrown around, please dont flame, but please give other ideas or your adjustments, or just simply don’t agree.
edit: Not sure what grandmaster trait this would replace. However I feel like this would give staff another role to play. It’s a great weapon for non glass players, if only you could do damage.
