replacing Arcane Power
Glyph of Elemental Power really wants a build around it to work best (cooldown reduction, condition duration at the minimum). Glyph of Storms is viable as a damage output option.
Most people run some form of cantrips as stun breakers will save your life. I tend towards Cleansing Fire even without a cantrip build.
You can also bring the Ice Bow instead of the Glyph. Gives you twice the AoE per minute, and a few other useful skills as well. And you can drop it as soon as you’re done casting.

I spoke too soon, you guys still seem pretty heated over the patch. Speaking of, the patch increased the duration of GoS’s storms. It looked pretty good on paper before, and better now. Too bad GoEP doesn’t proc effects based on current attunement instead of the attunement as of time of casting.
IMO arcane power works best with d/d.
Personally I tend to run Arcane Wave, Mist Form, and Conjure Frost Bow on my staff ele (though I frequently swap out my utilities if I need to). Mist Form is great for when you need to get out of a tight spot. Conjure Frost Bow is great as long as you remember that you’re likely only using the Frost Bow for skill 4 and dropping it immediately after that.
Glyph of Elemental Power doesn’t seem particularly great unless you build for it. I tried Glyph of Storms after the update, and it just felt like a lackluster version of the various “storm” AoEs.
Glyph of Storms complements staff ele nicely, and is very versatile. You have high DPS with fire attunement, aoe chill with water, and my favorite, aoe blind/ bleed with earth. Sandstorm is great for blinding mobs in PvE and will save your life on repeated occasions.
Plus, they buffed Storms in the last patch with longer duration.
Only thing that’s bad is that GoS is a 900 range spell which doesn’t really complement staff THAT well. It is quite useful using in melee range in earth for the blinds though as others have said.

That’s the best bit! I love my crippling/chilling meteor storms.

Yeah, the best part about GoEP is that you can get attunement effects on spells that don’t normally get them. I haven’t gotten much mileage out of the skill myself though.
I enjoy glyphs myself, but have you played around with Arcane blast? It’s a pretty nice little attack if you’re pounding away at a single target boss.
