[sPvP] Dealing with necro pressure?
You can’t really kill anything playing the meta build. The best advice I can give you is how to defend against them.
First off, I know the meta build says to take aura share, but I actually feel cleansing water is a better option. That gives you an extra condi clear every time you use an aura.
When they go reapershroud the only thing you can really do is try to dodge the damage. Reapers get most of their damage in shroud from landing the kitten and then whirling on their staff 3 for poison stacks. Watch for them going into shroud and coming at you. It almost always means they are trying to land a hit on you. Either time a dodge roll or just run away and chill them.
Soft cc is a better option since you can’t take away their stab.
Long story short. Avoid being near them when they go reaper, maintain at least 400-600 range at all times.

Depends if you’re using dagger or scepter too.

I prefer the skillset of dagger and the ability to somewhat cleave, even though its fairly wet paper bag cleave. I hadn’t thought about swapping to scep to keep the range though, I might do that against nec heavy comps. Losing aurashare seems too big a hit to your support power for a build that doesn’t offer huge amounts more.
I am getting absolutely kitten on by the combined CC and condi spam of multiple necros and I have no clue how to counterplay. Please help.
Ele probably has the least problems against necro, but if you eat tons of CC, it can get hard. The best tips I can give you is:
- Positioning: Don’t be stubborn and simply stay on point to die – run and resustain. Teleport can help a lot here, since necro’s won’t be able to follow you up ledges and stuff.
- Use your Overloads as stunbreakers: If you need t play defensively, w8 for a CC to hit you until you Overload to break the stun.
- Stay above 75%: You don’t have to use your heal when you’re at under 50% for example, you need to stay over 75%, since 1 condi-remove every second is way more important than using your heals for maximum efficacy against condi-builds.
- In terms of build, go for soldier-runes, invigorating torrents+cleansing water and Diamond Skin obviously. I go for cleansing waves over aura-share if I face 2 or more cndi-builds on the opposing team as a rule of thumb.
Menders ammy let’s you put pressure back on the necro with overloads. You forgo the toughness, but you should have almost permanent protection / frost aura anyway, and overloading an air attunement on point usually keeps necros from being able to focus you when they come from 1050 power and 560 precision.
Cantrips really help deal with condition pressure and CC. Armor of Earth is 10 stacks of stability, Cleansing Fire removes three conditions off you. I personally use Ether Renewal (I know, I’m crazy) because it zaps off 8 conditions every 14 seconds, which imho is more useful than Wash the Pain Away, seeing as you also have AoE regeneration and aura heal for sustain
If i see multiple necros i often swap to sage amulet and trait water for double cleanse on aura shouts.
And stay at range :-).
Focus the necro into the ground. 1v1 you want to cleanse yourself whilst staying offensive and avoiding reaper shroud freeze.
