Tornado is very lackluster imo, i try to use it here and there but ive found a few very key issues.
1- When tornado is used in large group fights, blind renders the transformation useless. We need immunity to blind in tornado to even be effective, and it would also make sense. “hur dur im a tornado and i cannot see anything ..” ?didnt know tornadoes had eyes. This is not to say that anything that makes sense in a game should be implemented, as if somone would really turn into a tornado i dont see how they could be damaged, but if it was granted immunity to blind it would make tornado NOT be USELESS.
2- We are literal sitting ducks in large group fights when tornado is used. The extra 10k health is definately needed as we have the lowest HP in the game but to help mitigate damage as a tornado i will suggest reflection of projectiles as a way to help tornado be effective. It would also make a lot of sense as a tornado. lol.

These two improvements would help a ton if they were to implemented, however , they are JUST suggestions, tornado really needs to be looked at.

Destroying projectiles at least is needed. An elite skill shouldn’t make you more vulnerable than before you used it.

I’m also not a fan of people using stability to get in my face and and melee my tornado form into the ground. We need to be more punishing to the enemy when they get inside our hitbox.

Furthermore, Moa Morph should not be able to shut down our elite transformation. I know you could consider it fair as they use an elite skill to shut down our elite, but the fact is we as a class are already completely devastated by this spell, as we absolutely need to continuously cast spells to stay alive. Having it shut down our elite transformation and turn us into a defenseless animal for ten seconds is too much.

For starters, it should last more than 15 seconds and given some form of additional defense such as projectile destruction as suggested. I also hate how all the enemies are knocked back 600 range all in different directions. The skill requires enemies to be grouped up together (read: AoE) but achieves the complete opposite by separating them all. Good for holding a point in spvp; terrible for everything else.

A bit strange for an Engineer to post here about this skill, but we can use it. The problem I’m getting is the stability it grants isn’t stopping control effects. Seems it does in PvE, but in WvW, it seems a crowd of players seem to have no problem stun-locking, and interupting a big swirl of wind… :P As for blindness, Yeah… In real life, if you wanna survive a tornado, all you have to do is use a dagger, or shoot a cloud of smoke… Blind the “eye of the storm”! Yup… … Note how the wind is still there, but we see all the trees suddenly stop blowing in the wind for 3 seconds… … yeah… (yes, that was sarcasm for the slow, heh. I seriously don’t know how you stop wind and explosions from dealing damage with a blind. But game ballance, yadda, yadda…) Anyhoo, I see no problem with stability when It’s me using control effects on others. But Tornado and Rampage stability seem to be imaginary…

How about this: Lets not have an elite that Knocks foes out of it’s aoe, that also counts for it’s projectiles. It makes no sense to force people away from you, and then none of your skills work. It also Reduces are speed massively(which if that was gone and granted swiftness that would be great).

ALSO-Let it effect 10-20 targets. Sorry, but in wvw it’s a death sentence, it will only hit 5 foes, who can just range you down. Tornado is garbage…and I can see why.

I used to use it (via Elixir X) to make my way into tower doors. The HP boost and stability got my in 98% of the time in absurdly large groups of enemies (I’m Anvil Rock, for any who know we’re outmanned ~95% of the time). Ever since the oh so glorious trait patch, It’s next to useless, as stun-locking now effects it. Used to watch pull cords, nets, all that jive just melt off as I went, taking damage only (scary HP melting damage, but damage only). Now instead, I watch the ~40k HP drain at high speed with a few invaders and their buddies and cousins stop you in your tracks like you’re nothing, despite the previous experience.

If anyone’s having problem with it’s Stability like me, then I know it’s, well… Not just me… First and foremost improvement would therefore be fixing control effects on it’s stability boon, if I’m not somehow just missing the point of stability (yup. getting redundant with the word, sorry). The next, is blindness really shouldn’t effect it’s attack. It seriously makes no sense. I can hang with the dodging, but… The blindness is a bit dumb.

As for projectiles, I haven’t had much problem there since most other times it’s just there to troll the melee classes for me, and usually use it only when around them. <: ) but it’s usually a crowd of melee that do me in Using Tornado… So I’ll have to agree with it working on more then just 5 at a time… : P

If that jazz means raising the cool-down, then… Well, I’m used to absurd cool-downs really… But. If the cool-down was unaffected, I’d be golden.

I just wish we would get massive vitality and toughness like necro’s plague form. What use is bonus precision when our tornado skills are weaker than our normal weapon skills and people are flung out of our aoe anyways?

That said I’ve found it is a great skill in skyhammer. But only in skyhammer.

Buff the damage of its transformation abilities by a LOT. Those things deal less than my normal 1 abilities.
Remember how it used to be used just to get the stability and then just get removed? Then anet “fixed” that…

Tornado needs major improvements for PvE and little improvements for PvP. In PvP/WvW it has potential to become an extremly strong skill because of its AoE CC in teamfights, in 1 vs 1 situations it remains useless as it takes away all the 20 skills of the elementalist + healing skill + utility skills. Healing is the only defense an elementalist has, so he doesn’t have any defense at all while being a tornado. I would be fine with that, if the dmg was a lot higher (especially for PvE) and if it pulls enemies in the tornado instead of throwing them away. Currently you can’t deal any dmg with it at all, as it throws enemies out of your range. Projectile reflection would be nice as well, allthough I think that would be too much for PvP.

So, pls: Increase the dmg, lower the duration and make it a pull-in instead of a knock-back.

Remember that the knock back isn’t that useful in WvW because of the AoE cap. Also whirl finishers aren’t exactly the best combo finishers. They’re pretty much AoE projectile finishers without the damage of the projectile itself.

I agree tornado could probably reflect/block projectiles. I will say, it is HILARIOUS to use in WvW after a failed keep defense or if you ninja into blue keep during a cap. Go up to the top level by the vista, and wait for some people to come up and fight you. Tornado up there was one of the funniest things I have done in this game, just shooting people to their death below. Beyond that, I never use it as it just gets me killed.

The tornado should suck an enemy in like how the jellyfish eats you in the water fractal—then it throws you out at the end of the cast.
