water field for d/d eles
Don’t know D/D and S/D already have great heals and water fields base with blast finish is 1320(higher than cleansing wave). It doesn’t scale as good @ 20% but the base is already high. I would prefer better sustained healing like the soothing wave being 5 second base regen or signet of restoration being bumped up a tad since it gets double punished by confusion and poison.

You can bunker as a d/d ele it is just that the type of bunker that a D/D ele provides isn’t needed anymore because warrior does it better. It is more mobile which was one of the reason why D/D ele bunkers where good in sPvP. With RTL nerf that doesn’t cut it anymore. Cleansing water is also nerfed in sPvP so your condition removal is nerfed.
A water field for a d/d ele would just be a water field for a D/D ele it wouldn’t make it viable in sPvP because it has a water field. Warriors bunker better and as long as they have superior mobility, can kill, and bunker better than a d/d ele can bunker D/D ele bunkers wont be needed. The only way to fix it would be a RTL change back to how it use to be.
Look at it how ever you want but you always take the best class for the role you want it to fill and the best mobile bunker is the warrior now. Engineers use to be the best condition pressure and nobody took necro’s now necro is the condition pressure king but you CAN slot in a engineer if you need to.
What this would do is make S/D more wanted than D/D since that would be 3 skills that aren’t the 6 slot that can heal allies with a base of over 1.3k. It would also make S/D much more deadly.

How about waterfield on the frostbow cast?
You never know, people might actualy start using that outside gimmicky situations.

This is my profession forum since I got tired of playing all the other professions for WvW. The easy god mode Ele experienced before shouldn’t come back. Now there is a bit of challenge to play the class right instead of having a single easy mode describing the whole profession playstyle.
A water field, no. Would be a bit much with the finishers D/D brings.
An ice field, though? That I could get behind. A little extra damage mitigation through Frost Aura’s would be welcome.

I never said “Give us a god mode back” (even though that was the state of Ele maybe in Beta, not anytime after that), I just said “make our class work properly and don’t apply double standards for our class” and that seems like a big difference to me, don’t you think? Why we should have some of our abilities “nerfed” in PvP, especially heals, when we are the squishiest class in game and our mobility was severely crippled by multiple nerfs? And that is quite insulting when this is applied to a grandmaster trait, really…

Because you have no control over when the skill comes, where it lands, and if the thing even stays alive. Unreliable in short.

Yea… given that you haven´t already used your blasts on fields you know will be there when needed, the fight is at a point where you are even able to, the field lands close enough and that there´s a chance you´ll even benefit from the short aura.

Did I say you mentioned the “give us a god mode back”? No, I meant with more healing field/skills at ele disposal, the potential of how the ele was a couple of months ago would more likely come back and that I am completely against. These abilities you mentioned were nerfed because they were overused and outbalanced the other classes during that time.

Not true, ele’s were one of the strongest classes at the time and it’s not because “people were terrible players back then” and that’s a very bold thing to say. Everyone from top level PvP’ers to the scrubbiest scrub thought it was overpowered because it was. Not becaus everyone sucked. That could be said about absolutely every overpowered aspect. Saying ele is the worst bunker in the game is one of the most pathetic things i’ve ever heard. You deserve a special place in the QQ corner.

Finally we agree on something, at least partially The phrase “during that time” is exactly what I had in mind. If you look at the classes now, that’s totally a different story.
Although I don’t think elementalist was “god mode” at any given time (except Beta, but ppl weren’t good players back then, so it was easy to own them even with staff, nobody knew what dodge is ), but it’s the class mechanic which allowed Elementalist players to overcome the enemy, not that the class itself was OP or stronger than others, but the complexity of the mechanic does two things:
#1: The skill ceiling is higher for the player controlling the Ele.
#2: It’s also harder for the opponent, because Ele have more options, therefore it’s harder to anticipate his next move/action. But that should be the reward for playing the class correctly, not a reason to nerf it to the ground….
