why Anet ruin ele?
Basically, in beta tests, elementalists were relatively balanced for most of the player-base as a high damage class. A few extremely good players took this and proved that with exceptional skill, the beta test elementalists were downright broken compared to other classes, and to balance for these players, ANet nerfed elementalists to a point where the top players were only doing well with them (instead of dominating 1v3+), with the consequence that the class is extremely inaccessible to most of the player base.

which imo is pretty stupid. Ele will be the lowest played class if they dont get buffed.
yes, but we have the longest cd of cc skill, we do less damage than any other class, we have less defende and hp than any other class and i can continue..
ok probably in beta test was too strong (i don’t know that) but know we are nothing..
there’s no one thing we can do better than other class..i still play ele and have fun with him in pve, pvp and wvw too, but i’m unbiased, and ele suck a little atm..
tell me only one thing that ele can do better than any other class..
we don’t talk about complexicity of this class, we talk about pure stats and spell..
ofc any good ele can defeat any worste player with a good class, but it does not mean that ele is ok..
i think nobody here wanna be op, (atleast , me no) but wanna be a real wizard, with all that includes..and it is low defense, low hp, high damage, high cc..
maybe in beta test ele was too strong, but now it’s too weak..

It’s not, at all. If your class is not balanced at higher skill levels and if elementalist rolls through most other classes in 1v4 when the elementalist player and his opponents are all exceptional, you have a problem at end-game PvP.
The only thing that needs fixing imo is an additional option for a more standard player, maybe in the form of a greatsword weapon option with less versatility/aoe pressure and more damage, so that elementalist doesn’t become a 1% playerbase PvP class (+bug fixes of course). A nerf or buff without the prerequisite foresight would ripple through all skill levels and make the class totally overpowered at high-end PvP.
I don’t really know what your experience with this class is, but on my Water Staff Elementalist I can keep whole groups up for the entirety of a dungeon boss fight while also contributing decent off-damage with Ice Bow/my other attunements. I feel like Elementalist may be more complex to play effectively than other classes because you can’t really just stack damage stats – but their base numbers are pretty good. It just involves a lot of stance-dancing and utilizing cooldowns effectively. I feel like you also have to make sure you’re using your utility skills correctly and slotting the right ones – there’s a lot of planning and choices to make.
the fact is : ele should be a classic wizard, and atm it is not..
you can play well, and so, but you’re not a REAL wizard atm..we are a mixture of skill usefull and useless at the same time, sure we do this or that, but in the end, we don’t do nothing (as a dps i mean)..
we can’t be a glass cannon cause our damage suck, we can’t be a tank for obviusly reason, we are only usefull as a support..i don’t think ele was thought to be a support class here..so Probably Anet do something wrong on this class…

What titanium said- elementalist is even nice, but only when someone assists him.
This way Ele can help him in attacks and not be hit at the same moment.
To me it seems that the easiest solution to the problem would be allowing Eles to summon Elementals for the entire time (so that skill recharges exactly when the elemental dies). This way Ele will always have some tank or support elemental nearby…
But it would change Elementalist to a wierd form of Necromancer :P
Anyway, I suggested my other wierd cure in other thread (Arcane Attunment).

Healing is pretty weak, even stacking +heal and having teammates use their blast finishers in your combo fields. You’d do much better “keeping your whole group up” by maintaining protection as much as possible, and keeping tough mobs weakened/blinded.
Perhaps you simply mean that you put a lot of points in water traits, I don’t know, but yeah. Mitigation >>>>>> Healing in this game.

No one else can ride it like Elementalists can.
I dont think Ele need a buff cuz he is to weak, there are much players who can play him good because he know which skills fits the situation the best.
I would rather have a weapon switch function. That would give more survivability imo.
Well I think a weapon switch would be nice, but the class is still underpowered. I am going through the same areas as I did an engineer and where I had absolutely no difficulty as that class as an elementalist I am dying left and right. I mean I literally am struggling to get through the teens where I haven’t even slowed down as an engineer in the high thirties.
Survivability is a big part, but the class is just to squishy compared to the damage output. Yes, as a D/D I can get fantastic maneuverability but I can only take a few hits before I go down. PvE or PvP it does not matter. Making a what I can only describe as a mystic monk is awesome but the thing is that unfortunately as the class stands it does not work. The cooldowns are to long, the damage to low, and the health is just not there. Taken together and the class just becomes more frustration to play then fun, you know that thing we supposedly play games for?
Much as I love the elementalist and just sank a lot of time into trying to level one today, I think i’m going back to my engineer. The class if it ever gets buffed will immediately get my attention again though. There is a difference between a steep learning curve and a broken class, i’m not masochist enough to figure out right now which one the elementalist truly is. I’d rather play a class I actually have fun playing, sophisticated class mechanics or not.
