hey guys, im trying to get a better understanding of the weapon sets. what is it about d/f and s/f that makes air the better choice, yet when playing d/d it seems the fire line is more desireable. i personally love trating in air but also love the skill set of daggers. is anyone out there running fresh air daggers?

Simply because if you play pvp, you typically play fresh air with a marauder amulet, and you need the focus’s earth skills in order to have any shot of survival, which is why most fresh air builds trait into earth as well.

For D/D you would typically play with celestial, because you were tanky enough to not need focus and the fire traits, before last week gave you tons of free easy mightstacking, which is needed to play celestial builds effectively. Now that fire line mightstacking has been toned down in last weeks patch, I expect that earth builds will be a bit more popular.

Both D/F and S/F struggle with consistent damage output. In the case of S/F, fresh air synergizes really nicely with lightning strike, the #2 skill on scepter air. Combined with electric discharge it gives S/F some much needed pressure. D/F uses fresh air more to get access to lightning whip at all times, to make up for the loss of damage from dagger offhand. Superspeed also helps to alleviate the weakness to kiting D/F innately has.

So mainly because of electric discharge, and because these weapons don’t ‘flow’ very well without fresh air.

That said, a glassier D/D build with fresh air does work well in situations where you’re able to reset, such as small group roaming in WvW. You can go in with heavy burst, then maintain high super speed uptime and steady damage by constantly rotating back to air.

SnF works very well for high dps ranged single target damage with consistent high pressure to your enemies.

dnd air works but since it works well with high dps u will need to offset some tankiness , plus u do not have long range

dnd is close combat cone area of affect with good aoe to hit multiple targets and requires sustain and decent dps which can be taken from standard cele builds.

There used to be a time when eles ran 02246 gaining prot,fury,cantrips,regen and arc, but anet destroyed build diversity

D/d tempest gets a lot of play with fresh air with a high dmg rotation of air overload swap to fire BS back to air and repeat.
