We’re 1 day from the big update where 100nades is going to die and turrets will get buffed! how’s the engineer community feeling ? happy ? nostalgic ? anxious ?!

let us know on the comments below! ALSO post a list of your predictions and lets see who will be right!!

personal predictions:

Turrets!

  • Trump: same damage, add cripple and moderate range increase!
  • Rifle turret 10% damage increase
  • Flame: Shorter cd & special skill instant cast!
  • Rocket: same old same old

Kit refinement!

  • Global cd will work properly!
  • Super Elixir duration decrease from 10s to 3-5s
  • Grande barrage! decrease number of grenades to 3-4 and is no longer affected by grenadier
  • New ability to med kit ? maybe..

Also i get the feeling:

  • Rifle damage will be toned down
  • FT 2 damage willl be largely decreased and will now be a blast finisher!
  • Fix Jump shot bug
  • Poison volley slight increase in damage and less random volley!
  • Gadgets will be touched upon! nothing that we would notice

Boom hate

  • trait 1% increase in damage per boon ( won’t be nothing major )
  • Warrior’s mace skills will be made to remove booms
  • Thief will be able to steal more boons with that one trait, i forget!
  • Limit the way some booms stack!

Bleed duration on explosive shot might be increased by a second or so. Besides that I hope they buff EG 1-3 and FT 4-5.

Do you mean Grenade Barrage just as kit refinement or as kit refinement trigger AND the toolbelt skill. Cause that would kill it as a toolbelt skill, essentially making it grenade skill 1 with a larger aoe.

To be honest: I don’t have a clue.
Many guesses, but it could be a lot more, or a lot less.

Turret changes? Obviously, but how and what? No idea.

Kit refinement: hopefully some buffs to go along with the nefs to grenades and EG proc.

It better be worth it, it is time…

a patch like every other Engi get buffed things a little bit and others get nerfed to the ground.

I dont expect much from Anet after 6 month they have no clue what they should do with this class, for WvW there are much much better classes for 25vs25 Ele, Warrior, Guardian and mesemers.

I’m pretty pessimistic as well. Hope I’m wrong, but the WvW character bound will probably mean the end of me giving any hope for this profession.

I’m just hanging out to see if they’ll do what I have sadly started to predict every time there’s a major patch for engineers…..nothing or worse then nothing, nerfing the only things left that work right. Curiosity honestly at this point. Can’t imagine them taking them seriously at this point and really can’t imagine them fixing the self CC and serious physics issues they’ve had since launch.

This list is total wishful thinking, but I thought I’d participate anyway.

Flamethrower

  • Flame Jet burns on first hit, not tenth
  • Flame Blast is a Blast finisher
  • Napalm has a wider AoE
  • Smoke Vent is a Smoke field

Elixir Gun

  • Tranquilizer Dart does 6 seconds of Bleeding
  • Fumigate no longer applies Poison, Vulnerability; removes a boon with every tick. Still cures conditions on allies with every tick.
  • Acid Bomb cures snare, immobilization
  • Super Elixir is no longer a Light field; removes a condition with every tick.

Turrets

  • Rifle/Rocket Turret damage modified by Engineer’s Power

General

  • Deadly Mixture revamped; Napalm and Acid Bomb instead apply cripple
  • Flamethrower damage increased by 20%
  • All kits have their weapon damage increased from 969 to some arbitrary higher number that actually makes sense
  • Leg Mods works with all kits
  • Armor Mod applies 5 seconds of Retaliation (Cooldown: 15 seconds)
  • Kit Refinement changed to a 30-point trait in Tools; global cooldown removed

Kit Refinement

  • Flamethrower: Backdraft
  • Tool Kit: Applies Ethereal field where standing
  • Grenade Kit: Grenade Barrage
  • Bomb Kit: Big Ol’ Bomb
  • Elixir Gun: Converts 1 condition to boon for self and allies
  • Med Kit: Applies Protection to self and allies (5 seconds)

Predictions

Nerfs:
-Kit refinement invisible cooldown is here to stay. It’ll be a few months before they catch this “bug.”
-Kit refinement bug will affect grenade kit, but toolkit will be overlooked.
-Kit refinement grenade barrage gets replaced with insta-cast bomb #1.

Buffs:
-Thumper turret now cripples (All other turrets are overlooked)
-Toolkit gets buffed again
-Remove 30% RNG from throw elixir U (increases cooldown)
-Maybe remove stealth from throw elixir S and replace it with aegis or protection (increases cooldown)
-Add some elaborate way to buff flamethrower by a little (more might stacking at the cost of having less mobility?)
-Change the elixir gun in some way that won’t be meaningful
-They fix scope (not really)

Other:
-All gadgets and other kits get overlooked (rocket boots? they’re perfect!)
-All other bugs get ignored (looking at turret AI)
-Boon hate will only be for thiefs, mesmers and warriors, and maybe gear eventually.

There’s still hope. Overall the last patch was more buff (albeit to low strength abilities) than nerf for Engs. It’s just a shame they made such of mess of the KR changes that they effectively reduced multi-kit builds.

(It’s also a shame we’re so critically dependent on one or two oddly placed individual traits for the viability of builds outside ‘nades and elixirs. It’s hardly surprising ’nades and elixirs are our predominant builds, given these are the only ones with coherent trait paths. Firearms is coherent, but the flexibility tax on our weapon damage means that even 30 in this path is still underpowered.)

I honestly hope your feeling about rifle damage is wrong. I honestly feel like power builds are in a bad way especially considering 100nades is sure to be gone and a nerf to rifle would only make things worse…

@Zenguy.6421, yea, trust me.. last buff was not a really a buff at all, acid bomb, altho a blast finisher is good, its only rewards come when you don’t use kit refinement, in other worlds, get a blast finisher but no KR!

@zaragoz.6351 i hear you, that would be the worst, personally I rifle because of all of it control, and dislike pistol for the lack, if they were to nerf rifle i would prob just quit, i got that feeling tho lol

@Kimbald.2697 something more scarier would be if they added a ghost nerf to static discharge!

In general I expect that our direct damage and bunker builds will be nerfed and our condition damage builds will be unchanged/buffed. Kind of odd but I think that’s how things are gonna go for engineers for a while. All turrets except net and rocket will receive damage, health and/or condition buffs but not enough to make engineers consider using them. General turret stuff such as targeting, LoS, and overcharge delay will remain unchanged.

Prediction.

A few changes will be very build altering.
Most changes will be trivial or just bug fixes and tooltip cleanup.

Ranger will get overbuffed and become the the FotM profession.

Mesmer will get an unbalancing skill that makes them even more of an essential WvW profession.

Thieves will see a large decrease in numbers when they realize that they cannot gank nearly as easily without culling help.

Culling will be removed causing large spikes in lag for most players that refuse to turn down their gfx settings.

WvW will be reduced to large skill lagged zerg fights tht consist of 70% Necros, 10% Mesmers, 10% Guardians then a mixture of Rangers and Eles.

After a few more months the WvW population will drastically decrease due to massive unplayable lag. The only players left will be the hardcore ones that turned all their settings to low and selected the “See nameplate only option”

WvW will turn into invisible nameplate fighting.

To lower the upkeep costs of the game Anet will start reducing the amount of other in game gfx and models.

Xmas time of 2013 the majority of GW2 players will have left and bought a PS4 or Xbox 720 and WvW now has an option to change all game gfx’s to dots and lines.

A cult forms with 50 members who do nothing but play WvW 13 hours aday on the same team and spend the whole time killing yaks, or to them, the Grey Dots.

Justin Beiber mistakes a newly released prisoner on vacation for paparazzi and punches him, Justin Beiber is subsequently basstaped to death.
