I really doubt this will get nerfed. Takes longer to setup than Mesmer or Thief burst. Longer recharge than Mesmer burst. Longer and easier-to-see visual cues. And lastly, arguably inferior survival tools compared to other classes.
Where did you get this build from, by the way? I thought I was being all crafty running it about a week ago and now I see people using it everywhere. :<

i Play alot of pvp and by far this is probably most broken build ive seen, only three buttons and then gg. You guys enjoy why it last =)

He and all those others you suddenly see running it, probably got it from watching a guy called Power (#2 on the NA QP list) stream on Twitch the other day, who has been trying out engi for a few days and settled on this build.
And yes you are right, the setup is longer / easier to avoid than a thief or mes, especially against classes that have a lot of stability, and survivability is worse than burst specs on other classes.
Incidentally for some of the WvW heroes on this board who think engi is fine and that it is a question of L2p, when someone asked Power ‘are engineers good for PvP?’, the reply he got was ‘they are probably the weakest class for PvP right now’.

There is a major difference in what matter’s in WvW for a class to be strong, then in sPvP! I have played some sPvP, and I do agree that Engineer face several problems in this area, but mostly cause we lacks in the area’s that matter in sPvP! There is a limited amount of players on your team, your gonna need a strong bunker, but other classes do it better atm, you need roamer’s with fast burst, which again other classes do better, you need condition removal and spike healing support, which engineer’s lack as well, compared to other’s! There is more to it, but sPvP boils down into you need a strong 5 mans group, where everyone gotta be the star in his area (Which means other classes don’t see much sPvP play either)
In WvW, you work under way different terms, one of them being, we Engineer’s can use our great kiting ability’s, and we gain a lot in strength in larger area’s where we got more free space to move. Static AoE damage spam is actually needed, which we can deliver quite well still with a grenade and might stack setup! We are actually quite beasty in 1vs1 where we ain’t in a hurry to burst down stuff, and can outlast most people (I do this all the time in Wvw)! We have the ability to gain perma Swiftness and Vigor, making us great scout’s, roamers and supply runner’s! We are insane good decoy’s, and can kite and tank amazing amount of damage from large amount’s of player’s, and in that way function as a WvW bunker, but serve another purpose! we ain’t locked into a tiny little point we have to hold as in sPvP, we got larger playgrounds, which again strength us!
I do agree on Engineer’s lack in sPvP, and there is bug’s and stuff to be fixed in WvW, but we are stronger in WvW, and we should stop compare the two sort’s of PvP with each other, counting for both sides! It’s another fighting arena, with other rules!

Why should we see a nerf to this ?
Its a closerange burst .. like every other burst.
You are running full berserker and a gun, defensive options are limited, so its absolutly fine.
The build is excellent, but certainly not overpowered by any means. It accomplishes a lot of what the other professions can do for burst. A little more setup, but a bit more ranged capabilities beyond the burst combo.
On a side note, the Engineer more then fine. The despair in these forums is simply sad to see. There are a fair chunk of builds that can do very well.

Like I said in the spvp forum, this build is a one hit wonder. You have to be inside the ennemy for optimal damage, meaning they have to stay in place for your burst.
Engineer have nearly 0 presence in the competitve scene, and we have been nerfed the last 3 patch, with one being 30% damage nerf on grenade.
I don’t think we can stand anymore nerf.

Its the same dmg like every other profession does when specced into glass … really no difference.
Perhaps it’s becuase nobody expects the ng to do burst dmg ?
Wow, the hate for engies is coming on strong today. On the rare chance that you see an engi in a decent team, this is probably similar to the build they’ll be running.
But yes, this burst is more difficult to set up and land with a longer cooldown and fewer escape options. On top of that, it does less damage than traditional roam/burst professions.
It seems people are afraid their own professions will get nerfed, so they are calling for nerfs on weaker/less-desired professions?
In my honest opinion i would actually love to see more engi players play this build,Higher risk, higher reward. Hopefully you guys give it a try and give me your feed back about the build
Had this game less than a week, and I am loving the engineer. Looking at this build, I don’t understand what the burst combo is. Can anyone explain it to me? I’d love to try it out.

Then I am certainly no true engineer! heh.
Basically, if you can manage to get grenade barrage (toolbelt skill for grenade kit) to land exactly right on top of an enemy, it will do quite a bit of damage. The trait in Tools (kit refinement) makes you drop grenades when you switch to the grenade kit, so if you’re standing right on top of an enemy and switch to grenade kit and use grenade barrage right at the same time, it will do a pretty fair amount of damage. You’ll need to use net shot (rifle 2) to set it up. If you are running all offense/zero defense, fighting a target that’s all offense/zero defense with no condition removals, you can do maybe 14-15k damage in the span of a second or two.
Also pro-tip for warriors: Frenzy + Signet of Might + Signet of Rage + Bull’s Charge + 100 Blades. That’s like 20k+ damage burst!
Chaining skills in a short window does massive gimmicky glasscannony burst. Hurr durr.
It’s a good kit to bring along in any power build, not just this gimmicky burst idea, but the reliability of net shot and jump shot make it a little harder to make work as the sole damage deal of that build.
Try this kit in a power rifle build with some traits spent in explosives, and you’ll get some good results as well when you land it.

I’ve never really been a fan of glass cannon engi. Always thought it was kind of fail comparatively. I feel like this job seems to excel more at being a hybrid.
Grenade barrage/swap can do a good bit of damage no doubt, but it’s a pretty big telegraph for incoming. It’d be like if bull charge didn’t stun you and just rooted~ pop shield or defense and there goes your one trick pony.
how is this any better then a static discharge build? seems awkward and clumsy to set up..

It isn’t better that static discharge. It’s just a gimmick build. But if you can get someone stupid enough to stand still in a red circle for six seconds, it will obliterate them.
For a true one-hit wonder, take Utility Goggles and Elixir U instead of Elixir S and Toolkit. Faster burst, and immunity to blind.
Analyze → Goggles → Net Shot → U → Jump Shot → Barrage → grenade kit swap → Blunderbuss → Overcharged Shot.
Then throw Elixir U and pray for stealth.
-Travail.
I tried it all evening yesterday, once you get it, the combo is actually really powerful. But it’s really hard to pull it off on good player. You have to feint and try to make them burst their defensive CD.
Once they did, net short, jumpshort, and right before you land, GB + Switch to grenade. I used a bit net turret, it can be effective to set up the short, you kinda have 3+ net with the rifle and the toolbet one.
Personal battering ram is also good to set up your jump shot.
This build is carnage in sPvP. People will prolly cry for nerf, but I doubt it would be viable in paid tpvp.
