Dunno if this is common knowledge, a bug, or useful at all, but any technique is better than none.
If you’re using a Rifle and some sort of stun breaker, preferably The utility Goggles, you can instantly break your own knock back from the Overcharge shot. This could allow for a Jump Shot, or Blunderbuss right off a Overcharged.

The timing is tricky on it though, but it’s fun. I use it a lot.

Blunderbuss might be tough though, no? Doesn’t Overcharged Shot put you out of Blunderbuss range? Unless the opponent charges right at you and gets within range. Other than that, neat trick.

Na. You can run up to them instantly after the overcharged shot and using the goggles. Blunderblussing them as they’re down. As I said, the Utility Goggles straight after the overcharged shot cancels the stun you get, so basically you can Overcharge shot whilst moving forward.

Oh, so even negating the throwback you get from it. Gotcha.

What the real fun bit is, using it with stability, then you don’t get knocked back at all.

But sadly, engineers don’t have reliable stability so, it might be more of a group orientated trick.

Maybe get your guardian friend to give AoE stability.

I hate thiskittenknockdown. It is bad enough on the rifle, but I think it is completely unacceptable on the rocket boots.

It seems alright in practice as you get up before your foe, but against enemies that can’t be CC’d it just screws you.

Pretty lame design for one of our only two weapon choices (if we had more choices it wouldn’t be nearly as upsetting).
Absolutely terrible design for a utility skill.

Using the Throw Elixr S toolbelt skill has a 50% chance of giving you stability, making you not get knocked back also.

I’ve never found a use for rocket boots active ability outside getting myself killed. Anyway rifle KB is ridiculous and imo shows they made comedy more of a priority than usefulness for this class. I’d argue rifle design on the whole is a joke concept and feels like something out of a cartoon when compared to the more serious techno sophisticated design of everything else on the engineer, outside of the forementioned rocketboots.

People that are complaining about the self knockback are crazy and need to get more creative. I would be very very sad if they took that away. You can currently use it in so many situations to stay alive it’s not even funny.

As to the OP, I myself use this trick from time to time, but it’s really situational and you have to be careful. Giving up a stun break in certain match ups is pretty painful. In the right situation though it can be amazing for securing a kill.
