Well I for one am of the opinion, that we really need a long range weapon on the engineer to begin with.
Pistol needs you to be close in order to use flame shot, which is it’s most damaging ability.
Shield abilities are both used mainly for close range CC.
Rifle has 3 close range abilities: blunderbuss, jump shot and overcharged shot, all of which require relativaly close range to be effective.
Grenades on the other hand can’t hit moving targets effectively at long range either.
Something needs to be done and I’m of the opinion that engineer should have an ability to swap weapon modes.
For example, rifle having long range and close range mode.
Shield for example could have a CC mode and the mode that was originally designed for the shield, which allows the absorbtion of enemy ranged attack and then the ability to use that attack against enemy.
Pistols… I dunno, condition/raw damage swapping?
