All turrets build
Toughness (inventions) is the turret line. Check it out. Im currently running with 20-30-20 in firearms, inventions, and elixers respectively with power, cond dmg, and vitality gear. Using flamethrower/elixer gun, healing turret/elixer h, flame turret, rifle turret, and supply drop. You can take relatively large groups in Orr- its a blast.
Havent tried it in pvp, and i def wont in wvw, against players its a very limited build.

The Inventions trait line has a full set of turret buffs, so you should check that out. Also check out the Tools for deployable turrets (possibly broken still?).
I think you should use turrets because you think they’re fun, not because you’re trying to build a top notch pvp build. As several people on here frequently complain a lot of turret abilities don’t scale with player equipment. Still, they’re fun and have some good situational uses.
You can also use the Tool Kit’s ‘auto-attack’ to repair turrets, although I don’t know how viable it is right now as I haven’t really played around with it.

tried the Tool kit repair last weekend is was really weak untraited.
Maybe I wasn’t very specific. I’m choosing turrets because they are fun as hell, and I’m just trying to find ways to make the turret/supply drop build as effective as possible. Thanks for the input, folks.
Mmh, for PvP I’d say Inventions and Tools for trait lines…
Why?
Cause Inventions buff turrets and Tools let you deploy them where ever you want. The only problem with Turrets is their targeting but other than that I have to agree they’re fun and useful.

For my Turret Engineer, I’m running with Deployable Turrets (only works on Healing and Rocket, but I guess in theory the devs will eventually fix it – if they can stop rebalancing things for long enough; get this from 10 Tools), Metal-Plated, Autotool-Installed Turrets with Rifled Barrels (Metal-Plated is basically meaningless against a lot of enemies, Autotool only functions once every ten seconds, and Rifled Turret Barrels is only semifunctional and sure as hell doesn’t change the tooltips; get them at 10/20/30 Inventions, respectively) and I intend to pick up Accelerant-Packed Turrets at 70 (since Metal-Plated Turrets doesn’t help them last long against anything above 20, it’d be nice to have an auxiliary function for them, see; 20 Explosives), in the hopes that it’ll function with my triggered detonations as well.
I think the Supply Crate is affected by another Tools trait, but can’t recall; I mostly just use it to front-line support to my buddies if they’re getting outnumbered and/or outgunned. Apparently, Supply Crate turrets are not affected by any of the other turret traits, and they do vanish after a minute or two.
The supplycrate trait is quite fun IF you have a nice open spot left in your traitline and dont know what to take.. Its like the standard crate + 1 rifle turret and 4 medkit bags

A full turret build is what i am running with at the moment. Mind you i am only level 63 so far.
The turrets i use are:
- Healing Turret
- Rifle Turret
- Thumper Turret
- Rocket Turret
I tend to deploy these 4 turrets in 2 pairs: Healing/Rifle and Thumper/Rocket. (Neat little detail: if you deploy them without moving the two models actually blend together very nicely so they look like a single turret )
By alternating between Healing/Rifle and Thumper/Rocket i nearly always have a turret pair ready while doing events or hearts.
I plan to use the Mortar elite skill to give myself some long range firepower during boss events or siege warfare.
One thing I’d like to note is that i went for Inventions and Firearms as it is crucial to have some form of mobility, control and firepower even if your turrets are down. So i picked the rifle enhancing traits from Firepower.
The rifle/rocket toolbelt skills add a little bit of extra DPS for when you need it and regen mist + shockwave creates a healing field on demand every 1,5 minute!
It might not be the most powerful build but it definitely makes me feel like an engineer the most. Probably because i used to play a lot of Team Fortress Classic / Q3F / TF2
