Am I not using blast gyro right?
Could it be that the “target” dies by other means? And then the Gyro doesn’t know where to go?
If it’s not a terrain based problem (sometimes the Gyro has trouble finding a path) then it should be working for much more than 50% of the time just sitting there.
Try it on some PvE maps or go to the PvP lobby and give it a try.
If the market “attack” misses, gets evaded or invulnerability, then the gyro doesn’t recognize a target. In that case it will sit at spawn and explode after a while. In some cases, altho I haven’t figured out the consistency here, it will even find a nearby target and fly towards that one.
Hope it clarifies!

I had the same issues: the range is defined with 1500 but it seems that this is only the search radius of the gyro. Means if you try to use it on an escaping target it may get out of the range. Anyway, I had issues using it also on targets within the range if they are moving away from the gyro.
I now use the gyro only in melee range. That makes the travel time short and works always for me.
That’s helpful, thanks all. Yes perhaps it was blocked or dodged or whatever at the moment the tracker dart was supposed to have hit.
I might be wrong but I think you can get an idle blast gyro to chase something by targeting the enemy and casting any skill at it. I think Ive had it go after players well out of the tag range or around corners by swinging an autoattack after it deploys.
I only really use it at point blank range which almost guarantees a hit.
