P/S is more like condi/utility and condi in PvE sux.

In parties that don’t reach 25 might or solo/duo play p/s can be useful for big reflects on champs/legendary mobs and as a blast finisher, with the confuse off of pistol aiding modified ammo (although bomb 3 is better dura-wise). The block speaks for itself.

66002 with rifle, nades, bombs, and mine is the highest personal dps build. Use p/s when your party lacks might or you need to stay in nade kit longer to keep up more vuln.

But more recently I said to myself, “Vee Wee, retired #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80, you shouldn’t support random pugs anymore! Use a more selfish build!” Then I thought, “Great idea Vee Wee! I’ll use this version so I can stack more might for myself (and occasionally my yucky teammates) during and in between fights!”

Basically this.

If you really need the extra blast finisher, swap in a shield. But actually using the pistol/shield is not common in PvE, as the pistol dishes out pretty garbage damage compared to kits.
