Guild Wars 2

Hey guys, I’m still relatively new to the game. Played in the beta a few times and once the game launched, made an Engineer and leveled it to 50 without doing any sort of PvP and just stopped playing in September.

Started to update the game again a few days ago and started playing again and only level 54 now, but I still kind of don’t know what I’m doing. I just know I love condition damage so I figured dual pistols is the way to go.

Is there a good build that anyone can show me to aim for?

Also, how is the end-game content in this game? I know this isn’t WoW and I shouldn’t compare it to WoW, but are there any raids? Any sort of arena ranked matches that are like 2v2?

Dual pistol is really good for PvE and PvP. It’s currently one of the best meta’s running right now. What you need to figure out, outside of pistols, is what skills you will be running for 6/7/8/9/0. Then you need to look at your Traits and figure out what build you want to work on. Review the Wiki on traits and the bonuses.

End game content comes down to 5 man missions in the Fractals of the mists or some of the other dungeons for gold/items. You can also do any of the dragon bosses for chests. A good resource is www.guildwarstemple.com to find out when those events spawn. It’s a range so don’t adhere to close to the timers.

In terms of PvP. You can enter PvP at anytime. It uses a separate set of armor/weapons so that everyone is equal. I like PvP because I can respec my engineer for free to work on builds. They give you multiple dummies and mobs to test on. You can do 8v8 rolling tournaments. You can also do 5v5 1 match tournaments. The 5v5 have good rewards. Rewards in PvP however are just skins.

The third end game content is WvWvW which is open map PvP but you use your PvE equipment. Every server is ranked in a Tier and each Tier is composed of 3 servers. Theoretically, those matchups can change but they don’t really. You will run from map to map taking points from your enemies. Depending on interest, you can fight anywhere from 1v1, 5v5, or 40v40 in Tier 1.

My advice is to continue with PvE or roll into PvP. Figure out what build you like. Full offense, bunker, or a mix. Engineer has been hit with the nerf bat a few times so take some time to review all the skills and what they do and match that to traits that help your play style.
