hey everyone.
I mainly play WvW in medium to large groups, and therefore adopted a grenade/elixir build with 30/0/0/30/10 build.

i really want to be using my main weapons, but due to lack of major AOE such as grenades i don’t use them often.

So i was wondering if there is a P/S or Rifle builds that focus on taking down a small number of targets efficiently rather than moderately damaging many targets with grenades.

Any more builds?

I have experience with SD but not so much in WvW. It seems like a build that might be tweaked to suit you though. Using rifle to still shoot from longer range, and allowing the SD to bounce around doing your small AOE damage for you. Throw a Sigil of Flame maybe as well.

Here’s the static discharge build I use:

The main combo is the following:

Net Shot → Analyze + Throw Wrench + Surprise Shot (use all three in quick succession while running up to immobilized target) → Jump Shot (should be done next to person to hit them twice)

After this, you can use Blunderbuss, Overcharge shot, Prybar, or whatever else suits your fancy.

Often you want to prep the attack by dropping your stimulant first to give you fury and swiftness. Utility goggles can also be handy to use at the start of the attack because you get fury and it will save blind from wrecking your combo, but sometimes it’s best to save it for stun break situations.

It’s also possible to open with Magnet → Prybar → Net Shot → Rest of above combo, although you have to be quick on the timing. Sometimes it’s easier to just do Magnet to Net Shot to guarantee that you hit the Net Shot. Obviously people can still blink out of it, but the combo can come out pretty quickly.

This build also works well if you just want to sit at range. You auto-attack will hit pretty hard, and you can keep spamming your tool belt skills for some high damage.

You generally won’t be dropping rifle turret, but it can be useful if you need to back of for a second. Just drop the turret and put it on overcharge while your give yourself med packs or a stim, and then go back to attacking. If you turret it out, you won’t be able to use surprise shot, so you generally don’t want your turret deployed while applying your main offence. You can just pick it up, blow it up, or let someone kill it. Luckily you don’t really care if it dies since you don’t want it out for long anyways.

Rifle turret is also handy for a quick blast finisher in a combo field that your party members can lay down (you don’t have any combo fields in this build).

You will die fairly fast with this build since it is pure glass canon, so make sure to use your stun breaker, Gear Shield, and Box of Nails to help you stay safe. When you do die, don’t get frustrated either. This build plays it fast and loose, so dying quickly is something you’ll have to accept when playing this.

It also works fairly well in PvE, although can be a bit tough to play during some boss fights.

I tried this today for only the purpose of trolling, and it was surprisingly satisfying.

When I want to make my enemies uninstall one by one, I use rifle, tool kit, slick shoes and battering ram.
1. pick enemy with annoying haircut and no stability
2. Magnet pull (actually knockdowns the target)
3. Walk around target and ram into your group
4. Walk to target and slick shoes for 2x more knockdown
5. rifle launch & root

More seriously, I think static discharge rifle is pretty fun and effective too now with low CD toolbelts.

It can work in WvW, but you have to be careful with it. The biggest struggle with this build will come during sieges, and it can have problems if you are outnumbered in other fights. But otherwise it can be fairly effective. Even downing one enemy can be sufficient to gain your side needed rallies. However, you have to be careful not to give the enemies rallies with your squishiness as well.
