Any races that are better with Engineer?
-From a lore standpoint, a charr engineer would fit best (since they pioneered the profession)
However, there are some terrible clipping issues with some of the charr armor or so I’ve heard.
-If you pick human, you will have a pretty active starting area to play in. (though you could always just pick another race and travel to the human area)
-Most of the racial skills are for aesthetics and are largely outperformed by similar profession skills.
Everything Sobat said is true.
Charr have Hidden Pistol racial which some people use for rifle/SD builds, but I find other skills better.
I went asura because I preferred the way the packs look on them vs other larger races. Too high up on Charr, comically tiny on male norn, , too bulky on human/norn female…
Test it out for aesthetics. Head to the Mists to break out all the kits right away.

Asura > all else
Tiny Icono – Engineer / The Icono – Elementalist

asura is the only race without the giant oversized backpacks.
Charr.
You could choose Asura. It would be a lot harder to read your telegraphed moves. Although this applies a bit to every classes.
I personally would go Sylvari because this; http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Take_Root and sometimes they say “Time go to into overdrive”

Asura. We are the master race.
If you PvP and need cheap out of game mechanics to help you. Pick Asura
Anything else really doesn’t matter
Unless your pvp, it doesn’t really matter what race you choose.
However for all classes, choosing the smallest asura model you can will give a slight advantage as its harder to see what moves you are doing.
The only exception to this is mesmer where you want to choose the biggest/fatest Norn or Charr model you can.
From a purely functional perspective I’d recommend making a human engineer for pve.
Prayer to Kormir is arguably the most useful racial utility skill in the game, doubly so if you are playing an engineer and you aren’t specced into elixirs.
If you are a PVP type of person I would recommend (as per earlier posters) making an Asuran character instead – they tend to have dodging and other animations that make them a little bit harder to track and predict in battle.

Since no one wants to give you legitimate reasons why their race is great at engineer let me explain why the charr engineer is far superior:
Charr racial utility skills have shorter cool downs than both the asura and sylvari giving you more opportunity to use said skills and earn more utility out of them. At the same time, the charr racial skills have more synergy with engineer builds than norn or human which are situational at best.
If you’re running an HGH build, having Battle Roar stack an additional 2 stacks of might helps you reach 25 stacks easier and also helps keep that number up, while the toolbelt Invigorating Roar assists your entire party and helps add an additional boon to you.
If you’re fully traited into Alchemy for your Energy Conversion Matrix, this single racial skill is granting you 2 boons together for 10 seconds (vigor for 10, might for 15) which gives you an additional 2% total damage + the additional power from the might. No other racial skill can boast that kind of boost to damage on top of the full party support.
As mentioned before, Hidden Pistol is great for a Static Discharge build. If you trait as far as to get Scope you can use the Hidden Pistol to put distance between you and your target gaining an additional 10% crit chance which you use when you unload your toolbelt skill AND a static discharge attack. It’s a great burst damage opportunity that is also enriched by the Tools traitlines; 20% additional crit damage and 20% reduced toolbelt cool downs making this combo available to use every 24 seconds. (if you’re traiting for Scope)
If you want to play as a bomb or grenade kit engineer then the Shrapnel Mine can be a great addition. Shrapnel Mine counts as an explosion and as such benefits from the traits Shrapnel (explosions have a 15% chance to cause bleeding), Explosive Powder (increases damage by 10%), and the grandmaster trait Steel-Packed Powder (explosions cause 5s vulnerability) and I’ve tested this to be certain. With the tool belt Mine Field, that’s 6 opportunities to inflict a 12 second bleed at 15% each + 5s vulnerability each time! Plus, who doesn’t love extra damage from already powerful explosive utilities. This is a great thing to bring along while your normal Bomb Kit skills are on cooldown. No other racial skill can synergize with an existing engineer trait line as well as this utility and the cool downs are 18 for the utility skill, Throw Mine, and 20 for the tool belt skill, Mine Field. ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?!!!?
The charr were born to be engineers and more so the engineer class was built to work with charr racial skills. Humans, asura, sylvari, and norn racials can’t even pretend to work as well with this class and it is clearly the superior winner.

Charrs may have invented the profession, but intellectually they will never be as smart as an Asuran. The mere fact that anyone would consider any bookah over the Asuran master race is beyond comprehension.
3 good choice for this. 1 charr for the team elite 2 asura for the golem elite (golem suit doesnt destroy turret and heals like crazy while behing ultra tanky wich means you can have all your turret up and buffing you meanwhile but you might consider the golem summon for a free extra damage or tanking effect i like to alternate between both) I dont realy like the human hound of baltazar setup and sylvaris tower defence just look outright dumb with the build norn wolf form actualy could be fun with turret way.
