Maybe it’s because I’ve gotten used to being the underdog, but I’m kinda hoping ArenaNet actually gives us more nerfs. It’s kinda fun now at this point trying to figure my way across the bugs and issues of this class to make him viable and semi-competitive against other classes.

Sorta like showing off and going, “Yeah that’s right, I’m playing Engineer and still kickin your kitten ”

Like I said…maybe I’ve gotten to used to the mentality of being underpowered hahaha.

I hope we don’t get buffed, also we don’t get nerfed, all I want is our skills and traits actually fixed and working to their fullest, without the bugs that have been ruining my gameplay experience, which is also reasonable considering we should see how skills work without bugs before nerfing/buffing no?

I would like to get some love, but at the same time I pride myself on being a member of the least-played class. So maybe some buffs, but don’t make us the next warrior

What’s there to nerf about Kit Refinement?
The fact that it’s one of the rare engineer traits that is actually… versatile?

Kit refinement is core trait in 100nades burst/glasscannon build. It’s going to get nerfed for sure.

You basically have to go inside enemy, equip grenade kit causing barrage then manually cast barrage. If are inside target all grenades will hit causing tons of damage.

then just nerf the grenade barrage from the kit which I think it isn’t OP in any way, lol, I must say that it’s freaking hard to land at least HALF those grenades and you must be sitting on your opponent’s head to do that.

You must immobilize the guy to do that and then you go on a CD you can’t even check.

Extremely unreliable spike, unless you static discharge too, but the “shoot the ground” bug works half the times, the only reliable lightning comes from rifle turret’s toolbelt.

Yes, you must sit IN your opponent, but if you hit it it’s pretty much 1hit k/o. Yes you DO need some for of immobilize to do that, but It’s still HIGHEST burst that engie has right now.

Also, nerfing Barrage from Kit Refinement COUNTS as Kit Refinement nerf, no need to correct me on this.

Well if you consider those kinds of burst that’s not much cheaper than thieves and warrior’s burst spec, don’t get me wrong, I agree that 1/2HKO shouldn’t exist in this kind of game, but others got much more viable builds without having to waste 2 utilities for that (by waste I mean they can be used in many other situations, unlike rifle turret and grenade kit which are solely for damage purposes)

Because of the bugs man, the bugs, think about it there isn’t a single build out of our “reliable” builds that doesn’t involve at least 1 or 2 bugs.

Grenades scatter, even hit ceilings and walls in their weird trajectories, static discharge often shoots the ground, (even when you have a locked target) MANY, if not all our projectile skills (and we are based on those) collide on invisible hit-boxes which cancel our projectiles and that happens ALOT, I’d say always for boomerang-like skills, this also involves important skills such as net shot, overcharged shot, the pistol in general and MANY of our utilities and this is just a small list of our bugs, a small list of MAJOR bugs.

Welp I dont know if we’ll get buffed, but grenades and bombs (all AOEs) are certainly getting nerfed in the future.

You know, to balance out the massive damage they do in comparison to all those weak single target skills no one uses, like backstab and killshot.

PvP I’d say is fine, SD/100nades/Dual Pistol Conditions are very powerful offensive speccs due to Burst Potential and our defencive ones are strong due to Knockdown/Survivabillity Cooldowns.

For Dungeons however I’m in desperate need of a better Auto-attack Which isn’t grenades because they are difficult to use on anything that moves. Better support options are needed as well for example tossing elixirs are incredibly weak when compared to Guardian Virtues, Virtues which don’t use Casting Times Stronger and easier to use than a majority of our shorter cooldown Toss Elixir. (Elixir B which for the record is probably one of the worst moves in the game, Elixir C) The same goes for shouts as well, they are AoE but most importantly do not have Cast times and spread outwards from the player.

Also Supply Crate which for the record is pretty much our only usable Elite skill, Elixir X I cant always get to turn me into a tornado and Mortar is just horrible. Only fills the AoE Trash Mob Pack got awkward Niche.

Personally, I like my engineer. I don’t get all the crying about how weak and underpowered we are. There are some bugs, sure, but that’s a matter of time until they get fixed. As for the AoE changes – I wouldn’t be to woried about it. They didn’t mention any nerf – it’s just a change in the mechanics (all classes tend to spam aoe, even on a single target). And after all – it’s not like they will implement it soon. ANet claimed that this kind of alteration would need serious testing in every possible aspect of the game.

As for the topic – I also like the fact, that we are one of the most rare (in terms of population) classes right now :)

Trust me, I’m an Engineer.

Erm no, PvP is not fine, firstly the defensive specs have been nerfed repeatedly, things like nerf to elixir R, nerf to smoke bomb, indirect nerf to elixir R with the downstate health change, removal of stabilty from juggernaut trait, etc, which is why engineer has gone from top tier node defender down to also rans behnd the likes of guardians & eles. And why as the engineers best role has dropped down the pecking order the number of people playing engineers has also taken a fall.

Secondly offensive specs, again really? Take 100nades, it is worse than a thief, mesmer, etc at delivering burst in just about every way – the burst is easier to avoid, is more difficult to apply & the build has less survivability (not to mention utility like portal, timewarp, illusion of life, etc), why would a team take 100nade engineer when other classes do the job better?

But anyway back to the OP’s question, the class needs more than buffs it needs some fundamental changes, it is meant to be versatile, yet it isn’t, take grenades for example, if I don’t trait 30 pts into that line for them, they hit like a wet kipper, the clusterbomb on my thief hits harder and provides more genuine AOE ability (on the alleged single target class) than untraited grenades give me on my engi. (and no it is still not worth slotting them untraited to get a chill and a blind, because utility slots are at more of a premium on engi than any other class).

I believe engineer was the last class added to the game, everyone knows the game was rushed out before it was ready, on engi it really shows.

No, not at all. I dream of downloading the patch to find that my flamethrower never misses, is never obstructed and does amazing consistent reliable damage, considering I blew 30 points into it. I dream of melting down mesmer clones left and right, thieves running in stealth, trying to get away, but being unable to avoid the massive flame plume licking at their hells, GS Wars charging in, only to find a well placed dodge and a wall of fire devouring them. There they lie, writhing in pain as the fire consumes them all, their last words escaping in unison, “OP!” My Asura Engi merely smiles, taking in the joy of a moment that has been due to him for 5 months. As their bodies crumble to ash, I drink my Elixir B, and run quickly to the next point where they all hide and lie in wait for when I leave, lest they burn as the rest have. Do I want nerfs? Do I want buffs? No. I want justice.

The Engineer was certainly the last one unveiled – and the only one, as far as I’m aware, that was subject to having the armor class changed after initial consideration, on top of giving me the feeling that Kits were originally intended to be the class mechanic.

I hope that they finally make everything other than kits good enough to draw more Engineers away from them.
