Im sure you’ve all heard this before but i wish they’d change the skills on the rifle, They all feel terribly boring and ineffective.
Wish we had the Warriors rifle skills :/

I like the snare on short CD, and the 3,5,4 combo, I just wish our knockdown didn’t knock us down too.

I find rifles to be worthless. They have longer range, but the abilities for it don’t work at long range. You might as well just use pistols or shield.

Shield is nice for defense, and dual sigils are what you want to use for kits.

Rifle 1 is why i stay on engi. Berserker specced 25 bloodlust auto attack is good. Net shot is good as well just need to aim it well and wait player to do his dodge. skill 3 is decent closecombat skill. good dmg but i would get more into it.

Problems are same that they were from start. Overcharge shot knock you and jump shots jump animation gets weird sometimes or you get pawned while jumping. Little adjusting and rifle would rock my socks. Im rifle engi anyways. 1skill + discharges is no brain gaming with good results.

I disagree. There are two claims I’ve seen in the Engineer community that I emphatically disagree with:
1) Kits are boring and/or useless. (This isn’t a popular one, but proponents of Elixir builds often seem to feel this way.)
2) Rifle skills are boring and/or bad.

I think #2 is more about a disconnect between the expectation of what a rifle should be (“We should have the warrior rifle skills!”) and what the skills actually are.

Net Shot: Immobilize on a 10s (8s traited) cooldown. Yes, please.

Blunderbuss: Ok, a move that requires you to be nuzzling someone seems really weird for a medium armor, primarily non-melee class. I get that. But it works well when someone is in your face, trying to eat your lunch. It’s very nice to have that option on a 10s (8s traited) cooldown. Buckshot in the grill, followed by…

Overcharged Shot: I cackle every time I use this, or at least /evilgrin. The common complaint is “My knockback knocks me back!” Yes, it does. That is both a) hilarious, and b) useful. 15s cooldown (12s traited). That’s not very long for a good control option that also removes immobilization, cripple, and chill effects. It is entirely possible to keep up a net-dodge-knockback pattern on melee mobs—it’s how you can solo, slowly, melee champions—and some players. Good players can work around this, but the ability is still there and, again, it’s nice to have.

Jump Shot: Vulnerability stacks? Whatever. This one is for damage. If you use it at point blank range to smack someone with both take-off and landing damage, it’s not bad at all. There is a very valid complaint about this ability though: it has a 1/4s cast time in addition to the nontrivial air time. Even setting it up with Net Shot, the window to pull this off is narrow; the ability seems to have an odd hover delay, even if you’re in melee range when you use it. You’ll launch up, hover a moment, then come down. I’ll absolutely concede that this ability could us a tweak—but just a bit—to polish it up.

Hip Shot: Our standard attack is also a little underwhelming. I get that it pierces, but single-target it leaves something to be desired. I’d love to see just a little bump to this, or, even better, some reworking in our traits to make it a bit snazzier.

Still, all things considered, I think the rifle shakes out pretty well. I’ve tested many, many builds—both my own and others floating around—and I always come back to the rifle. It is absolutely a subjective matter, of playstyle and preference. I’d love to see a Sniper Rifle kit or something like that, but I feel like the Rifle is a fun and, more-or-less, solid weapon.

The dual-sigil thing is a different issue, not confined to Engineers or our Rifle skills.

The funny fun i find is that most of the warriors i’ve spoken to does’nt even use or want their rifle skills.

I wonder what the designers were thinking when they gave rifle to warriors. It’s not as if they are lacking in other areas. :/

Most curious is why we have a ‘scope’ trait, but the rifle is mostly a mid-range weapon.
The Commando sniper seems to be mocking us.

I find rifle pretty good for 1 on 1 PVP and decent for single-target dps but not the best for other stuff. In PVP with net shot and overcharged shot it gives you a good amount of options to keep people away from you. For dps really all you can do it press 1 and let it auto-attack though, since like you said all of the abilities require you to be in melee range.
