I run Celestial + Traveler when WvW roaming and completing open world PvE. Perfectly suitable. And with Giver’s weapons, Koi Cake, and 30 Explosives, you can still reach 100% Condition Duration for WvW.
I would run Berserker in dungeons, though.
for me 1st soldier or maybe dire (WvW) 2nd berserker (pve)

Oh wow … I never thought about running celestial with the Engi in WvW.. I already have an exotic Giver’s Shield and a Carrion Ascended gun in the making for weapons. I’m thinking more of a mixture of helmet and gloves for celestial and the rest either rabid or rampager with Traveler’s runes.
I also run celestial in wvw. It is king imo for roaming because of crazy overscaling compared to spvp celestial. Also a viable solution for zerg vs zerg.

can you explain what you mean by this a little better. I don’t understand.

If you compare PvE celestial with PvP celestial you’ll see PvE celestial is much closer to zerker gear according the direct damage then the pvp version. Additional it is also much closer to the PTV defensive stats then the pvp version is.
Celestial in PvP is not that good and only viable for some very few builds while Celestial in PvE scales very well.
Celestial gear is viable for anything. I run it for everything atm. With a pretty good hybrid build.
It is pretty much the best gear for eng in my opinion. pretty much makes you unstoppable.
The reason, conditions with a small amount of might still has 1200+ condi damage, your power although not as bursty as zerker still hits hard enough to cause problems. You can take a few hits and your heal is pretty strong. With the right traits and the fact you can switch out without retraiting makes almost any weapon good.
Finally the fact that as an eng really all our weapons are hybrid based needing power, crit damage and condi damage, you want crit for all the on crit procs and you’ll need survivability all in all celestial is the best gear.

But: sadly in spvp the values are to low to take this on spvp gear.

I have a full ascended Celestial set, but I wasn’t a big fan of the results. I run with Rabid trinkets in WvW. In PvE, always Berserker.

thanks for the explanation. will have to give this more consideration. I did not realize that there is such a difference from PVE to sPVP wonder why the disparity.
with something like a bomb build u use all of the celestial stats and thus its great if u your running with the bomb kit

The additional damage with the condition damage surely won’t outdamage the adiitional damage from the missing power and precision, that’s the point.

There are different kinds of PvE. Some people run dungons all day. You are right. Zerker. nothing else. Other people like me are fed by dungons already and focus more on fractals (especially high level). For those people, celestial is maybe best in slot. Condition Damage is not wasted on high healthy enemie groups.

Celestial armor gives 140 to each and every stat along with 16% critical damage.
Three-attribute armor like Berserker give 329 of the major stat and 235 of the minor stats.
In other words, wearing Celestial is a loss of 189 power and 95 precision (4.5%). They have equal amounts of critical damage.

It’s not just about the condition damage, though it certainly helps. It’s also about the extra healing power, toughness, and vitality. Most world events have little to do with individual DPS contributions, and are everything about keeping allies and NPCs alive (i.e., Megadestroyer, Temple of Balthazar, Temple of Grenth).
