Ascended Gear Inquiry
I’d say build for WvW because a poor build can really get you killed while really any build can work in PvE! Knights armor with Celestial accessories works extremely well in WvW! You can swap for Berserker accessories for PvE or even just stick with Celestial because it’s PvE and you can literally use anything and still win! Inb4 PvE elitists come in and say ZERKONLY in PvE!
Wahoo! Bye frands!

I’m in your same situation. I do not know which build you use, but i’ll tell you the builds that i’m gonna use
if the your dungeon party doesn’t look for meta classes, this build works pretty well for both wvwvw and pve.
if i want more survivability, i can swap Berkerker trinkets, with Celestial trinkets. This happen when i do roaming with little groups in wvwvw
Anyway, i’m waiting the expansion, because i fear that after HoT, actual builds could became outdated :P
I suggest you (if you do not know already) to check this website

Full zerk or full kitten, it doesn’t really matter that much. But that’s the way to go for pve. For WvW you want to go either for celestial / zerk or rabid / carrion mix.
Since the engineer only needs one weapon and it also grants 10 agony resistance, aswell +5% dmg is far more important than a bit more def, go for an ascended rifle first. I’ve got 2 of them, one zerk with +5% dmg and +7% crit chance on it and one kitten with +5% dmg and +10% dmg at night on it. I suggest to go for the first one first

ZERKONLY in PvE!
lol, jk … mix some assassin’s stuff into it.
You wont stay with one set you simply cant if you wanna play in different gamemodes with different builds. Simply start build for mode you prefer most.
Tekkit’s Workshop
Celestial works on a solid level for almost every build, in all game modes, and most situations. I have multiple full ascended sets and celestial never fails.

Yea you can play a condi engi in pve if you want to. But it’s not efficient and ppl hate you for it if you bring it to dungeons or fotm. I’d kick any condi class in my pt if I see one. Same goes for cele.

I do not belive the OP is a king the question in the context of elitist gameplay though.

There’s a difference between elitist gameplay and proper build + playstyle. I’m just not into petting newbs for semigood stuff. They shall know the truth and decide by themselves.

According to my statement you quotet – no, it’s not.

You can’t go wrong with berzerker. You could use it on a thief or a ranger you might create, also.
Celestial armors are time-gated, so it could be worth it to craft an ascended set since you’re not in a hurry anyway. Works well in WvW, and I think the total number of additional stats you gain is bigger.
Rabid is an excellent choice if you want to roam in WvW, and you can switch runes for a few silvers and play a condi ranger.
I have no opinion on knight, since I prefer to play with a sigil of intelligence, but why not.
