Unfortunately one of the absolute worst “features” in GW2 across the board is the super-restrictive camera controls. There, as far as I know, is no fix to this problem.

Why they do not let us zoom into First Person perspective with the mouse wheel so we can actually SEE more of the beautiful landscapes is just beyond my comprehension.

Had this issue since a few patches ago, think it was the patch that allowed more camera zoom.

It won’t get fixed as anything relating to Engineer will not be fixed, we still have loads of bugs from beta. The worst being the ability to use the Medkit in Pve correctly, for some reason it works fine in Pvp but the stow and unstow of the kit is borked in Pve.

Just have to live with it.

Yes, someone remind me WHY exactly we can’t stow the MedKit.. we have to actually hit Tidle / Grave and “drop the kit”? That is REAL dumb.

I actually like being able to keep hitting the Medkit button without stowing it, and I wish it were an option to have it work that way for all the kits we have. Much better than forgetting you’re already in Toolkit, hitting the hotkey for it to use the shield, and ending up knocking yourself to your backside with the Rifle.

I too use an asura engineer and this needs to be fixed immediately!!

But on the stowing medkit I agree its weird and annoying at first but what is interesting is that just equiping it counts as using a “heal skill” and a “weapon swap” so it can proc lots of things and because it has no cooldown it makes engineers the most efficient class at activating these buffs.

While the issue needs to be fixed, I found I can often self-fix it by having my camera zoomed out fully and pointing it so I’m looking straight down on my character. Doesn’t always work, but it helps.

I wanna run Rampage with Growth Tonic. Too bad they don’t stack.

I have lost fights because of it, it’s not just an annoying visual bug, it’s very hard to land ground targeted skills while moving with the camera like this. It also makes you lose all battle sense in more confusing fights.
Fix please! :<

october 1st: Fixed a camera bug which occasionally caused the camera to get too close to the player’s backside.

I think this was when the bug was first introduced. can anyone confirm?

We mostly need a fix… it’s not that they don’t know by now.

I think it’s only an issue with small asuras, I’m max sized and have never encountered this bug.

I did try make a max size asura like 2-3 weeks ago and encounted same issue so i changed back to the size i want to be :x

sidenote: I’ve noticed sometimes it seems like I die before Tiny mode has ended and also sometimes the Trait Elixir S @ 25% seems to kick in but only last a second before I go down. Has anyone else noticed this or could it just be a lag issue?

yep, but I didn’t figure it was an asura issue.
Still: throwing grenades from up a wall forces me to stand on top of the edge, in plain sight… or there is no path available indeed.

And someone fixed the elixir S yet?
If not: stop reading and get to it please!

I miss that very short period after the Halloween patch where the max camera distance was extended, sigh that made nade throwing sooooo much easier.

sidenote: there are certain places on walls where you can actually throw nades without having to jump on the ledge. It is about the same distance from the wall as the veteran archers stand and you can rly only throw within a certain distance. But it will end up looking like you are just chucking nades right through the top of the wall.

Despite running an Elixir build, I gave up on Elixir S because of this bug and resorted to the alternative but inferior Eng stunbreakers. In other words…

This bug kittens the Engineer’s best stun breaker on Asura Engs.

The camera is a constant annoyance when running around with a tall Norn, never mind the class.

There is an abundance of jumping puzzles and vistas that glitch the camera no matter what zoom level it has been set by the user, a clear sign that none took the time to test clipping and camera issues with them.

@daweed, That stuff isn’t that much fun for a big Charr, Jumping puzzles are annoying.

I literally quit playing my asura and rolled a human for tpvp just because of this bug. I wish I could delete the sum kitten but he’s 80 with exotics, so I’ll just have to wait until they fix it. This also made me quit playing WvW.

The constant feeling of helplessness when popping the best stun break in the game is just ridiculous. After 30 minutes helplessness turns into blind rage as your camera just throws itself into the ground over and over and over.

If they don’t understand how it can be a big issue, tell them to watch one of the videos.. if they still think it’s not a big deal you have confirmed they are just plain stupid.

Even better get them to try WvW with a non-Asura Eng and an Asura Eng and see the difference in what they can do when they drink Elixir S.

sidenote: I have noticed that my Overcharge Shot has being receiving the 3 sec “facing wrong direction” CD even when I am looking right at my target. It only seems to happen when I try to do my pull+dodge roll past and OS punt back into my zerg, Instead I pull them dodge past them then stare at them blankly for a second wondering WTF.

sidenote: When pulling enemies with Magnet you might notice that sometimes enemies will go flying straight up in the air. If you activate a skill like PBR or Overcharged Shot then jump right afterwards you will do the skill in the air. If you can connect with the flying enemy you will send them flopping through the air like a flopping fish. Or if you have Rocket Boots and use the TB Skill you will shoot up and cartwheel kick them in the face. Both are fun.

It’s funny, mesmer bug reports with one of their phantasam doing less dmg or one skill being clunky/buggy to use is getting dev responses but something as gamebreaking as this just falls totally down the drain on the bug report page

Asura, in my opinion, is one of the most fun races to play but just has too many visual bugs.
After using a waypoint, my asura engineer has no neck for a significant amount of time… I mean, what the… But okay, i’ll live with this. I’ll live with the fact that some asura like to retract their heads into their chests as if they were turtles.
Then I finally get Elixir S and I am introduced into the world of epilepsy by this super annoyting camera bug.
Fix it please!
