Asura 'gineers need new stuff
Actually…
Charr were the race that created the engineer class and its tech.
So no it aint human tech. It’s Charr tech.
I’ve been saying this since beta. The Asura already have equivalents of all the engineer tech. The inquest even use their own turrets.
It actually would make a great deal of sense for the Asura to have a unique skin to some of their kits and turrets.
It would make great sense if every race has its own type of turret skins.
Norn would use more wood and stone, while charr relies on iron.
Itll happen, but not for awhile….. im talking like first expansion while.
go buy a mini-PK golem, and just pretend he ‘teleports’ or ‘warps’ in all of your engineer’y stuff….. itsn ot like your hiding ALL those bombsi n that lil kitten abckpack, ehh?? =p
Just because I want to be a Debbie downer, Asura are the last race that need new skins. From a lore perspective, Asura culture is all about magic. Even the Asuran golems that people THINK are technological are actually magic based. Engineers shun the use of magic. Therefore, the few Asura engineers that did exist would, in all likelihood, be using borrowed tech instead of homegrown equipment.

I actually disagree, Debbie. i believe an Asura engineer (for lore’s sake) chooses to use their magical tendancies to transmute crude bombs / nades / bullets etc…. They are more-or-less just an individual with a facination for stuff that blows up, through the use of crude materials, that would be Easy for an asura to obtain with a quickness…
for example, a bunch of grenades… sure a charr can carry more, but ill bet an asura can make them faster =p
in time it will probably be an option in the cash shop to buy unique spell skins for different professions from the bltc
Yeah; I disagree as well: In the case of Asura engineers, it’s more about the non-discriminatory application of magical energies.
Unlike most of the other classes that use magical/divine/spiritual/etc. forces, there’s minimal training required to use engineered equipment. While the Asura may complain about bookah damaging their stuff through improper use, pretty much anybody could pick up a golem remote, energy beam or oozinator and put it to use, unlike, say, commanding the elemental forces of fire.

Hold on.
There is a mob in the game called “Inquest Engineer” that drops Asuran Turrets.
That’s more evidence than any to suggest that yes, perhaps Asuran Engineers should have a little more flavour.

+1.
What he said!!
i like his defense better than mine!!
as there are 2 races with any technology at all, it doent pay to make turrets just for one race. Additionally if you read the lore carefully asura are on the decline. Hell they dont know how way-points or gates work; just how to fix them.
What a fun thread. Engineers aren’t any more lore appropriate to Asura than they are to Sylvari. Either everyone gets their own turret skins or we all share. You aren’t special.

Inquest engineer turrets shock. Charr turrets don’t. Do you want a new skin or a new class? On second thought, don’t answer that.
This would be great. I can’t imagine the amount of work that would go into making turrets specific to each race though. Maybe one day…
And let’s be real, we Asura are pretty awesome as it is :p
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
Most “advanced” technology on Tyria right now comes from either the Charr or the Asura. Humans haven’t done particularly much in this field, Sylvari are relatively young and probably wouldn’t’ve forked their studies dramatically yet and Norn… just… no.
Out of all the skills, none of them have a particularly Asura feel to me; the turrets are all clunky and mechanically-based, the kits tend to go either way, but they don’t have an Asura visutal style to me either. The gadgets… their effects feel more like experiments of progeny, but there isn’t much visual flavor there either.
The elixirs can pretty much go any way: Sylvari probably have an innate sense for some chemicals, Charr have experimented more with chemicals in fueling and developing their tools, Humans have a longer history with magic and Asura are known for experimenting on oozes and who knows what else. And Norn have probably tried to brew everything remotely edible. But these don’t really have any visual impact, which is kind of a major influence in how things ‘feel’.
Nothing wrong with sharing skins— but, at least to me, engineer technology feels overwhelmingly Charr in appearance. Changing the appearance of a turret or two, or one of the kits to make it feel like it’s drawing from the best of both cultures would feel a lot more appropriate in my opinion.
Random example, could replace the healing turret with a crank that sprays a healing mist with a blue version of those Inquest lightning turret that emits a pulse that rejuvenates the body. It’s not like Asura technology isn’t available elsewhere; it’s perfectly reasonable for an engineer to use the best tool for the job.

Ehhh… fine, we all have to stop because debbie downer is going to have some snide remark for everything…. freekin trolls!! Heh, seriously though, no hard feelings, its just a game!! but for ‘lore’ sake, everyone should get their own turrent skins, which i believe WILL happen!!! but not for a LONG while, im talking like not till an expansion or two…. (when new visuals is the focus, instead of PVP balancing…)
but please stop down playing asura engineers… if you wanna get all technical, wouldnt Asura be the best alchemist engineers?? their, fine, we take that crown, argument settled?? heh….
lets not forget this shtuff was all just made up…. and alot of people get their ‘lore’ facts from Wiki’s, which any ole nerd can edit however they please, so before we keep using LORE as a defense, we need to check the source! ill bet Anet themselves is extremely vague with their lore, to leave room for expansion.
The point of the OP is the same point everyone here is making, the turrents seem like they need some Moderate differences between races… not extreme changes, but SLIGHT alterations……. as well as backpacks/kits. None of this will start to happen though, until other classes get some love aswell, like race specific differences between certain abilities. i dont have any examples, but im sure their are several…..

Asura are certainly the best at self aggrandizing. You worship the great alchemy, yet you have to steal applied alchemy, i.e. elixirs, from an “inferior” race. This means that asura are undoubtedly the best alchemist engineers? I don’t think so. I think it means asura have the best reality warping technology.

I will if you do.
I know I’m trolling a bit, but I’m just jealous that I don’t have tiny animations like you guys do. And I hate asura condescension with a passion. Give credit where credit is due. So annoying!
