Asuran Engineer--disadvantage?
The camera can be tricky with Asura but its only really noticable when doing things like jumping puzzles.
A very annoying bug with Asura Engineers is with the Elixir S skill, which shrinks you and makes you invulnerable, which is awesome but with Asura the camera will often bug out and zoom in&out rapidly and in some ways ruin the skill effect.
Other than that I take insult to you even considering some other brutish, stinky race or burpers, farters and tree humping plant ppl.
Very good day to you sir!
superior intellect, otter-like sheen, more macho than randy savage, world dominating, universe folding, and down right erudite.
advantage : asura
disadvantage : bookahs

Don’t make your Asura super small, and you won’t have this problem.

the problem was with grenades and thankfully was adressed so theres really no reason to not go asura engineer so far except as was said earlier Jumping puzzles but eh its not all that big of a deal.
I love my asura engineer. Hands down, wouldn’t have it any other way. Regardless of minor camera issues
If you roll an Engineer and decide to go Asura it’s like entering the cheat code in Contra! (you know U D U D L R L R B A S). Due to superior intellect and overwhelming cuteness, Asura Engineers are actually going to be banned from the game completely in the next patch.
It’s [NERF] or nothing!
elixir S is a serious issue as Asura, it’s terribly annoying.
Also related to the camera issues, like some targeting for ‘ground placed’ abilities.
The Elixir S camera issue is really annoying. But tbh.. I ve learned to play with it.
I’ve played Charr, Twig and Asura so far and Asura was the most fun. Charr is just epic (try /threaten). Sylvari glow in the dark which makes up for being so butterfly-fluffybunny nice (it doesnt compensate Trehearne and you’ll have to live with the fact that he will want to call you “brother” (or sister, I guess)).
I really don’t think that playing Asura is a disadvantage.
I’m not saying Asura is not fun, or certainly not that it’s not worth a try.
I love my Asura.
But the camera issues are real, and the worst one is that elixir S bug.
Of course we can learn to deal with it, but the fact remains it’s an Asura only issue. And a terribly annoying one at that.
I personally stopped using elixir S altogether, since most of those 3 seconds were lost on the camera seizure anyhow, I almost never got anything done at all.
Asura Eng’s are great – and they get the best lines.
The camera can be annoying at times (not being able to see in a crowd is aproblem,a s is the Elixir S camera bug on Asura) – then again, teh small size means we can get overlooked in WvW. Recommend increasing your size from the default to reduce the camera issues. Other than that, just do it: Asura Eng’s are a lot of fun.

I don’t think that is true. I start a new Asura Engi, made him as tall as possible, then went into the mists to test Elixir S… camera still bugged for me.
I was hoping a tall Asura would fix that, cause then I would gladly pay the gems to redo my main Engi’s height.
I didn’t play with it enough to see if the bug happened less often on a tall Asura, however.

By the way: in pvp the small size has an advantage too.
It is much harder readin the animations on an Asura than on a bigger opponent.
So it’s a bit harder to react to them.
Not impossible, just a bit harder.
Small advantage, but it really should be mentioned as well.

As for as Elixir S goes… I sometimes don’t have the camera problem at all and I made the smallest asura possible. Granted she has a big head o.o
But yeah. sometimes it doesnt do it at all. Maybe its just me

could that be when you look straight down on your character?
because that’s the best way to use elixir S as Asura: the camera staggers less if looking straight down, at least you can do something.

My camera is usually zoomed out all the way, that may be it.
I have a max size Asura Engi and other than the Elixir S camera bug, haven’t noticed any issues with her. Honestly, it’s so much fun being Asura, why would you want to pick anything else?
Plus, since Supply Crate is really our only elite option, having a racial golem or 2 while leveling is pretty nice.

I was curious, how is the survivability of the defensive golem in something tough like a dungeon or Champion fight, compared to Supply Crate, which doesn’t last long?
I will post this here only once because I don’t want a workaround to the camera bug to in any way hinder the fixing of the camera bug.
For Elixir S.
(If you position the camera above your character looking down you will avoid the camera bug)
This is still very annoying since most the time you will be using Elixir S for an escape or disengagement and will naturally have the camera behind you
Thank you so much for your advice! I will pass all of it along to my friend!
