My engi is close to 80 now and so I’ve been testing several different builds in sPvP with all of them being some variant of the turret/bunker concept. I originally went with the rifle as it’s the meta right now but I’m not convinced it’s the best way to go. My goal is strickly to survive and put enough pressure on folks that I can hold the point alone against 2+ long enough for my team to send support.

With that as my goal, can you please look over this build and give me your thoughts? I went with the condi P/S build as it just feels to be better suited with all the conditions combined with the block and interrupts. I also am not a fan of the shield effect on the turrets so I changed out that trait.

I’ve not a clue if this would even work in WvW because clearly, folks can just run away.

Yeah. If you’re running condition turrets, you want the Flame Turret. It’s the only Turret that inflicts a directly damaging condition, after the changes to Rocket Turret.

Personally, I’d go with Rifle, Flame, and Thumper if it’s three-turret, or Thumper, Flame and Throw Mine if it isn’t – with Thumper, you can keep enemies in range of Flame more easily, as well as get the one stunbreak that Turrets offer. Rifle Turret’s pretty much just there for the Vulnerability stacks, Blast Finishers, and traited Fury, really (along with, of course, APT). Throw Mine makes being in that area around the Flame Turret even more unpleasant, with Mine Field providing boon-stripping and a spike, and Throw Mine also stripping boons and providing ground-targeted, push-button crowd-control (as well as a blast finisher), so it can be used to push enemies away from the Turret if need be…or, of course, right back into it.
In combination with Shield #4, Thumper Overcharge, and Shield #5, it can manage an irritating amount of keep-away, if that’s your thing.

Pistol is not enough condition damage! Rifle is there for the CC and extra heal which contributes to survivability, more than the shield will give!

Whenever playing turret engi i feel that net shot is vital.

I would really urge you to reconsider rifle.

Ok, I went back and took out rifle turret for flame and replaced the pistol with the rifle and you all were correct, it’s much better now!

One problem I have is with heavy conditions builds though. Do you all have any suggestions on what I can do to remove the condi?

You don’t! Engis are weak to conditions! My only advice is to learn how to use the Healing Turret wisely since it’s your only form of condition removal but it’s also tied to your heal! A real Engi build can stand against most other condition builds because of counter pressure, damage mitigation, extra dodges, etc., but a turret Engi can only spam Hip Shot! Plus turret Engis are “bunkers” even though their survivability is pretty terrible versus the inevitable cleave/focus fire that comes from standing on the point which is one of the reasons why turret builds are pretty terrible! But that’s a discussion for another thread! Good luck!

My stopgap against Conditions with my Turret builds is pretty much just the Sigil of Purity; it only works once per ten seconds, and only clears one at a time, so it’s still pretty bad against conditions, but it’s something.

Condi’s and full turrets do not go together. Even dual pistols do not apply enough conditions to make a dent in your enemies defenses.

Swap the rifle turret for grenades for better results.
Also trait for more Condi’s, and less traits for turrets.
Also changed your Rune. Rune of Balthazar is ridiculously good on condi engi’s/

This is an interesting build. I saw you have several traits for kits and explosions but I didn’t see you using the grenade kit. Would you use this instead of rifle turret?

Grenade kit + Incendiary power renders flame turret completely pointless.
If you plan to focus condi, then Rabid is the only good choice.
Cele is LESS tanky and LESS condi damage, but it scales well with power and just adds a BIT of extra condi damage for that little bit of after pressure.

Nice tipp with the ammus thanks.

I know most condi builds use gerande kit, i left that one out on purpose.
The hole idea behind that build was to merge turret engineer with condi engi and create something which offers me more flexibillity on my really low elo.
Hell.I really was like, whould would happen if…
I have to addmit i like doing this stuff and failing with it, happend in GW1 and EVE alot.

On a serious note, is there any i thing i could try changing?

As for flexibility, there is NO Engi build more flexible than a tri-kit Condi.
