I can’t be the only one who’s thought of this before.

You get a nice armor set, color it in the colors of your choosing, and finally by level 80 start looking like the most awesome Engineer you can be.. and then you don your backpack. 50 pounds of brown, maroon, and ugly blocking out your armor set that you worked so hard on. insta-sad face

I really hope that in the future they add an option to either remove the backpack or even just re-color it. Every once and a while the backpack I’m using will glitch off and i’ll be left holding a grenade or an elixir gun with no backpack. When I see this I think to myself.. “hey, this looks pretty darn nice.”

Also, before there’s anybody who says “then where would the elixirs/gasoline/grenades/bombs/etc. come from!?”. Utility belt and rounds (look in the barrel of the flamethrower)

Yeah love it when my back pack glitches off. Easy to implement quality of life adjustment.

Well you would think that if it glitches off so easily then it would be just as easy to implement that as a feature o.o

I also want the option to turn it off as well as customize its appearance with new skins and colors.

yes is second that they should add additional eq slots for engineer so that we can get skins to customize the kits’ looks

I dunno about skins.. what we’re really just looking for is something that we can use to customize something that’s a bit of an eyesore in a way where it won’t make other classes feel cheated that they didn’t get something similar. Something as simple as just being able to disable the backpacks would do this.

This of course is a more complex post with players asking/suggesting actual models to go with the backpack (going back to the being fair to players who play other classes), but even with that it seems like the general populace agrees that it wouldn’t be a bad idea just to have the appearance of the backpack adjustable.

I haven’t seen an official post from ArenaNet on this, and I have to wonder if there are any future plans for this.

I’m not sure I am clear on this topic….you can click the little box next to the pack in inventory to turn off the appearance.

Edit: I see. You are speaking of the different skill-specific backpacks.

The difference is Whelm, that for Engineers this isn’t just an item you equip. It’s a skill that sticks the backpack on your back and you’re stuck with it whether you like it or not. It gets to be a major hassle as well when the colors of your armor are glaringly different from the colors of your kit backpack.

I am glad I picked asura for my engi, for some reason the backpack on him has very reasonable size (I mean proportionaly to the asura), on anything else it’s ridiculously large, like you want to go camping for a month.
