Does anyone know what dye colours would match the backpack you get from the start.. ?

Red I would say as that’s the colour of the fabric on it or a tan brown which is the colour of the wooden frame.

iv found that the dye RUST most resembles it on teh armor

Consider that the material your armor uses has an influence on the color of every dye.
I use leather armor.

-The orange piece of cloth on your backpack matches “Bold” Dye. It’s really cheap so just buy one off the TP and test it.
-For the brown parts I usually use colors like “Mushroom”. Matches pretty well
-There are little yellow pieces on many backpacks/kits. I use “Squash” or “Antique Gold”
