I tried posting these over on reddit, and got some useful responses, but I’m still trying to really understand a couple of things.

With the grenade kit, how do you aim, move, dodge, well? I’ve turned on quick cast, so at least I don’t wear out my mouse any more, but in a normal MMO I use mouse to look, keys to move (and occasionally mouse to move) while wailing on the number keys for attacks. But most MMOS A) Don’t use ground-cast abilities like the grenade kit, don’t require constant active movement like GW2

Also, what’m I supposed to be doing with the bomb kit, if I have it out? It feels kind of stupid to be running into melee range and dropping bombs, in regular pve/fractals.

Edit: I also meant to ask if anyone is currently streaming engineers? Someone suggested Wolfineer but he’s gone, and the dude who ‘picked up’ seems to be gone too?

You can enable “Snap Ground Target To Current Target” in the general options. The grenades will then automatically fly towards to place of your target. (also use the “grenadier” trait for the increased throw velocity)

I feel dumb. Yes, that will help a lot. Thank you. Seriously, it’s great.

What I do is double tap the grenade button — that also acts as a cast, so I don’t need to click the mouse. It also helps prevent making errors that the press and release method has.

The bomb kit is purely a melee thing, but with the right traits, you end up having bombs with short recharge/detonation times, with increased damage, that cause vulnerability, and also proc bleed/cripple. They also supply Fire and Smoke combo fields (which are great for bursting for might and stealth). They work very well for bunker builds where you know enemies are going to want to crowd you.

In PvE, I tend to overworld with the Bomb Kit, Tool Kit, and as many burst finishers as I can cram in. Using Bomb/Box of Nails cripples and bleeds help keep enemies where you want them while you alternate between bombs and wrenching things in the face. It’s a fun alternative to the Hammer when I’m bored.
