Been gone for a long time, where do I start

So I’ve been gone from the game since before they redid the trait system. I’m not sure I remember anything about my old build except that I was using a pistol and shield and nearly all my gear is Berzerker’s (except I don’t remember ferocity being a thing). In any case, I feel like I’m probably going to need to relearn a lot of things build-wise since I have no clue where the meta is.

Where should I start to get back into the swing of things? Any guides for returning players? Any builds I should look at in the interim? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

posted a couple of beginner builds here, good interim startout.

Ferocity replaced crit-dmg as stat and is shown as numeric value, rather than a percentage. That has the side-effect that berserker stats will do around 10% less dmg, while celestial got a minor crit-dmg buff, so much about the new gear balancing.

Berserker is still the general meta, but more “durable” builds now can operate closer to its dps-output, which allowed for actual experimentation without sacrificing much in terms of speedruns.

The PvE engi meta is still rifle / s/d / nades with 6/6/0/0/2, but many people now run alternative builds. I for example prefer BK, throw mine, nades, without modified Ammunition but the new trait bunker down instead.

Also the PvP meta for engis changed drastically since the turret-AI finally got fixed (welp, some bugs remain), which made pure-turret builds even stronger than hambows or decap-engis. People argue that these builds are too easy to use and therefore for scrubs, while other classes scream for a nerf, tough the build has obvious incapabilities that they just have to exploit.

I guess that should round up what got changed since the last class-update.
