Beta: Slick Shoes needs to be toned down!
Ive never encountered problems against someone with slick shoes. Last time I checked you could evade through it. Just watch out for the red circles.
It has been around since long before this beta. It doesn’t knock you down for 8s. You can dodge out of it, or use any movement skill. It is very situational, and has a very long cool down. It can be walked right past with stability. Personally I think it needs the opposite, and should be buffed by lowering the cool down.

Yup. Since no one is ever going to use gadgeteer, most gadgets could use a cooldown reduction.
You can’t dodge through Slick Shoes
Break stun + dodge. Druid entangle is worst…
You can’t dodge through Slick Shoes
You mean you can’t dodge through slick shoes. I most certainly assure you others can. I know, I see them do it. I do it myself. It can be done. It appears you are demanding a nerf about effects you do not fully understand yourself. That is not particularly wise in my opinion.

I do not want to be mean to OP but this is kitten true. Gadgets are extremely underwhelming already.

Look into his other thread that popped up a few mins ago.
It’s a salty troll, hurt by the recent ele nerfs.
Nothing to see here, move on.
As a revenant i got constantly owned by Slick Shoes and no way to avoid it. Also i noticed that scrapper can do insane damage with it while the target is knocked down in the center of red circle circle not able to dodge cause the knockdown happens mid dodge and it even happens sometimes when you don’t even move.
The only way to avoid well placed Slick Shoes is to use stability and if you are out of stability you have to eat every burst from the engi.

Yepp, that’s what the utility is supposed to do.
If you engage a engi in close quarters without having stab or heavy cc’s ready, you deserve what’s coming for ya.
Don’t get salty over being outplayed.

So the only option is to stay in range and eat grenades as a melee class without invuln skills and passive procs?
Edit. Slick Shoes also completely kills druid in cele form.
Rev Hammer AA hits from 1200 range (more than grenades) for massive damage as well. Hammer 2 (Coalescence of Ruin) hits for something like 4k – 9k depending on double hits from the same range.
Git gud bro.
Slick Shoes is op skill. it counters almost every attempts to escape and can stunlock you for 8 sec max without you being able to do anything.
Make it like that it has 1s internal cd on every field when it knocks down or the make it dodgeable. This skill was one of the reasons why engi was so op in beta also cause it could knock you down for so long time that you had no chance to survive against scrapper damage.
Ok, so I saw your other thread where you just realized that there are multiple invuln skills that allow for stomping…
Maybe you shouldn’t start making wild calls for balance if you still don’t fully understand what’s going on around you…just saying.
Also, Slick Shoes has been like this for a looooong time and current builds can do just as much damage as anything a Scrapper can do.
The OP came onto the engi forum, added “beta” to the title (to indicate something beta related) then said slick shoes were OP? They’re the same as always perhaps since no one is running a gadget build now, even less than they’ve ever been, and they’ve ALWAYS been avoidable.
Little red circles on the ground, avoid those, or have stability and srun breaks or just port away.
Unlucky since launch, RNG isn’t random

the skill you can walk around is op? lol can you jump over them too

It isn’t OP, there are ways to avoid it. If you’re baited into using your CDs and then get trapped in a Slick Shoes combo, then you were simply outplayed. Engineers have to give up a kit or invuln+ stealth to take this utility.
Also to clarify, unless something was changed very very recently, Slick Shoes can’t be evaded or blocked. It doesn’t work if you step on old fields, but you can stack the new fields on top of each other to (seemingly) permanently lock someone down unless they know how the skill works.
Kluzukaze – Mesmer
Rhomulos Prime – Revenant
if at all slick shoes cooldown needs to be reduced since its way to long to be really useful… op – definatly not, never heard – nor do i know anyone who uses it in pvp due to the cooldown
Why is this tagged beta, lol

He means that Slick Shoes are meant to lock down a player, and they are balanced around that.
If that player has no stunbreak/inv/evades/endure pains/stability ready then well.. I hardly think we can consider it to be slick shoes’ fault.
P.S.
Revenant has plenty of blocks, evades, invulnerability, stability and teleports.
out of curiosity, does slick shoes muck up a rev’s sword shadowstep channel skill? i didnt incidentally notice if it trips them with only 1 weekend’s worth of playing and the current state of gadgets in general.
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
Troll? Newb? Or just … ?
First this has nothing todo with beta.
Second use stability to counter or jump away from engineer to get away and ao you want be enclosed in the oil. Or you sit it out with a block. Or you teleport out.
Third ever were in the guardians ring of warding?
Also you are not stun locked. You get stunned when you ran into that lasts 1 second if you ran into it oover and over again yeah than you died to your own stupidness.
/facepalm

Yes. Slick Shoes cancels revenant sword 3 skill Unrelenting Assault since Slick Shoes can’t be evaded. And then the engi can just run around the revenant and stack those red circles so that you can’t do anything while being knocked down 3 times.
Edit. Also the stunbreak in revenant shiro is dodge which removes conditions but Slick Shoes causes you to get knocked down instantly after using it and the source of stability is the trait which gives you stack of stability when you dodge, but can’t dodge while in Slick Shoes.

If it can’t be dodged, I guess we found our counter for daredevil.

Hey guys, this unblockable skill cant be blocked. Pls nerf for doing what it’s intended to do. Which is to interupt any melee attackers that yolo invuln block rush at you.
You also just can’t dodge through Ring of Warding, Line of Warding, Spectral Wall, Unsteady Ground.
And no I guess it won’t be a counter. High cooldown. Thief can already get away from engineer before slick is around. And even if he is in he can still port out.
Try to keep up weakness on them to decrease endurance regeneration and use a lot of aoe stuff around you. And then try yo place a burst from time to time.
Just so we’re clear, that was sarcasm. It’s fine as is.
What IS really fun tho,… Using throw mine in eotm over and over and over. Bodies flying everywhere.
The problem isn’t the skill itself as it is. The problem is that if you run back and forth over the revenants or somebodys body he can’t stand up for 6-8 seconds so the problem isn’t the dodge thing itself but it’s the instant stunlock you get from it and it’s way too long.
Edit. Imagine some other class have straight up 6-8s taunt or stun which can’t be evaded or blocked.

So the problem is you went into a fight against a class known to be strong with CCs unprepared with stability (on a class with easy access to stab lol)/etc. and don’t have any insta-cast stunbreaks or damage mitigation on knockdown/etc. in your build? Got it.

I had stability but it seems like you don’t know that it does multiple cc fields and 1 stack gets removed instantly. Also if you use sword 3 skill you can’t cancel the animation and if the Slick Shoes field hits you you are kittened. So the only way to avoid it 100% is not to use your sword 3 on revenant (which is the main damage) or stay out of range since sword has only melee attacks as major damage.
I tried engi for the first time today and it’s tru that Slick Shoes is hard to land, but if you know how to use the skill it’s way too op. That’s why i would personally rework the skill to be more easy to use and to not be so effective.

Now he’s learning to play. XD
Switch to hammer to stay at range. Bait out the slick shoes before engaging with sword 3!
Slick Shoes is there in that Engi build for a reason. If you jump in and expect to just win, you deserve to get knocked down for 6-8 seconds.

Don’t feed the troll guys. Please

please close this post as u did with the slick shoes one. this discussion is leading nowhere and denying facts and heavy bias towards your own class is not a good way to start a balance discussion.
