Holy crap … oh my … so what I think when I see this skill is: Why should I EVER use it?!
It’s a one-use projectile with a low dps (medium spike), an ultra long CD and an even lousier toolbelt with another ultra long CD.
Not to mention the HUGE amount of counterplay to it for pvp. I mean you don’t even have to just dodge, block or even reflect the inital projectile, no, you can simply jump down a small edge and the pathfinding will do the rest.
As for pve the skill will always be outshined by anything else. Most similar example: the mine: knockback, unblockable and it’s toolbelt hits like a train, stacks tons of vuln, stripps boons and is a huge aoe. Also you got more balance between dmg and cc.
What this skill needs is to keep up preassure on the enemy for pvp or just an acceptable dps for pve: The gyro needs to be like a bombardement!
Lower the CD to like 5-10 sec, but also lower the knockback a bit. Keep the damage up so the DpS will be acceptable. This skill has to be able to oushine a damage kit wich also may apply conditions on the enemy. It’s a pure damage skill with some cc, to make it viable it has to be GREAT in doing what’s it designed for.
As for the toolbelt, I think a stunbreak would already do the job.

Some of the cds are kinda bad even with a 20% reduction in traits I think this specific drone should be in the 15 sec to 20 sec cd. The cleansing should be around 20 sec as well heck most of them should be in the 20 sec range other than bulwark and the spinning drone and stealth. I honestly would love if they merge the second minor with the first and move the stun reduction/increase too the second one and make the last minor a way to spawn smaller versions of the blast gyro on kills with an icd that way we can keep a few more fields up and a bit of dps pressure. Why not just make it charges whenever you deal damage you charge up after a certain amount of stacks you spawn the drone would be amazing while in combat but not easily available outside of it since it would just rush and blow up.
Another problem / solution for one or more gyros is that the CD should start when you built them, not when they get killed.
Like the heal gyro gets punished from being alive a long time, since it’s initial heal is “high” and the overall cd gets longer when it survives longer.
But use this input only to discuss about the blast gyro in this thread, please.
Like: This would already help to lower the CD of the blast gyro…
What if they made the first skill summon 3 Blast gyros and the second (,third and fourth) skill command one of the drones to go to target player and explode. Kinda like daredevils throwingknifes.
There would still be tons of counter play since the gyros are out earlier and are still weak to CC, pathfinding and death.
Gotta keep in mind, the PvE and WvW aspects to. The game doesnt really need to keep catering towards 1v1 SPvP.
If they decide to lower the cd id be fine with it, but id still use it regardless tbh.
You would most likely be spamming the ATTACK button just to get rid of them cuz they die in 15 sec. Also the same problem mesmers have right now with mantras: Using not all of them will keep the skill from going on CD, forcing you to SPAM the skill, mindlessly, or get punished for not doing so.
It’s in my eyes an obvious mistake to not let the CD start when the gyro / mantra is build / charged. And I really really hope DESPRITLY that they finally notice the mistake in this system …
Back to your idea: The counterplay would be almost the same when you produce them faster, but once by once. Just with the difference that with your idea, all 3 die within one aoe :<

Everything aside from Kits and Elixirs is pretty bad. Although I have found that Rocket Boots do synergize pretty well with a condi build.

You seem to be the only one looking at the thing as a whole lol. Add Mine and rifle to this and then itl be endless CC.

Rocket boots are actually a lot better than we give them credit for. With the burning trait, the kick actually packs some punch, and the boots themselves are actually a very nice mobility utility on a 20 sec cooldown. They’re even good in some jumping puzzles and such in open world if you get good at aiming them. If the gadgeteer trait wasn’t dependent on getting hit they’d be pretty great together. (seriously, whose idea was that? even if the trait simply made all gadgets always overcharged without the kittens rule it still wouldn’t be a popular trait.)
Slick shoes are handy in PvP though they are pretty mediocre in pve.
But the reason I called out the battering ram is because they fill the same niche, they’re both CC utilities that give a knockback in a single skill. Given we already have much more useful weapons and kits, why would I take one of those for knockback, when I can take flamethrower for airblast, toolkit for magnet pull, bomb kit for big ol bomb, or even just literally any turret with the explosives line? Neither the battering ram or the blast gyro appear to have a unique function that isn’t already done better by something else we can use.

We don’t need the blast gyro for endless CC. We already HAVE endless cc. On a lower CD than the blast gyro, for that matter.
Granted, the one unknown is the damage, given that the streamer seemed to be using a condi amulet. 1300 damage on a no power build ain’t that bad. If the power damage scales well, and the gyro deals 2000+ damage, then it might actually do well as a component of a burst combo since it could be much more damaging than most other CC options we have.
