Bomb Kit: viable for WvW roaming?
… No. Bombs have huge telegraphs even with Short Fuse. Maybe in a huge fight where people aren’t watching but against anyone who isn’t either trying to show off or not dumb as a rock they won’t work.
I like and run bomb kit most of the time. Playing a celestial hybrid build atm, I always liked the way celestial played and bombs work nicely with those stats, I loved playing healing bombs while that was still a thing. It is much harder to sustain in WvW these days, but that’s due to people generally building glassier and knowing the game better than this time last year.
That being said, the build would probably work better with grenades, and I main a S/D thief. So take what I say with a pinch of salt.

Thanks for the input guys. I had a feeling grenades would work better anyway. Although I find launching opponents with Big Ol’ Bomb very humorous.

I tried experimenting with the Bomb Kit today and failed miserably. Does anyone have any good build ideas for using the Bomb Kit in WvW roaming situations? Or is the Bomb Kit too niche and gimmicky for small group fights?
Koroshi and Yishis are two of the best wvw engi players ive seen in gw2 and their builds almost always include bomb kit as part of it. Bomb kit is by no means “just a troll build”, it doesn’t have the range of grenades, but if you are getting chased around (which tends to happen a lot if you are roaming) there is nothing better for kitting numerous enemies.
Bombs are effective against mele, they are a detriment when someone is chasing you, they provide condis and damage, BOB is awesomely fun, and hey fire field for group might. The problem is that you kind of want explosives… you have to take alchemy…. an you probably wanted scrapper if you hope to survive mele. They’re crippled in their effectiveness by not allowing your build to take firearms. At least in PvP… WvW maybe you can compensate.
