Bomberman
Oh i’ve already stated information about this build in previous hate threads.
It’s great having someone who actually uses the build and can testify it works
What sigils, runes, and amulet do you use?
PvP I love the bomber build. It causes a lot of chaos. I think people kind of ignore you a lot of times because you are not actually attacking them directly. Mine is different than yours though:

I got pwned by a Hammer Guardian until I adjust my build more to handle stuns better.
Just like you I run like hell. Smoke bomb, fire bomb, bomb, bomb, Med kit, swiftness, bandage, bandage, bandage, self heal, bomb kit, swiftness, Concussion bomb, bomb, bomb you get it.
Sigils and runes I primary focus on healing for it keeps me alive. I hardly die.

Running this build for speedy kits and alot of what you guys have been saying.
im playing a bomberman too
(copy paste on browser because its getting “Bad Link”)
(i specced on high health coz it’s meant to be tanky.)
but i want to try the 30 inventions/10 alchemy
anyway, i decided to play only a bomberman in PvP and im making a video capture of my fights to know where it thrives.
you guys should post your equipments and runes.

I think I’m going to try the build in the OP but with the healing kit and the thumper turret instead of Elixcir C… and possibly moving the Alchemy points to Tools.
Now I just need to get (yet) another set of armor to be less squishy.

I am wondering why you are going for pistol/shield which is more condition damage orientated, with bombs and grenades, which benefit more from power.
I’d consider a rifle to be better in that build.
Here’s my ridiculous version of The Mad Bomber that I’ve yet to play test but have been theorycrafting. The idea is being able to move fast, drop bombs, dodge as often as I want to drop even more bombs and throw grenades when I need range. Then use the rifle as a gap closer and control tool. All with insane glee. Probably won’t work but here it is anyways:

The one issue I had when I was out in the mists doing some testing last night is that the blast finisher from Big Ol’ Bomb wasn’t setting off the fields I dropped. I’m not entirely sure why.
Although looking again, maybe I’ll take advantage of the gadgets and forego the grenades:

I just wanted the skills from the shield like knockback and block. But it doesn’t limit me from using rifle since I can carry it in my inventorry.
Also I found out that modding my build to 30 inventions/10 alchemny is better.swap grenade with elixir c since you will find yourself not using grenades too much. More armor than Vitality. Plus the. Traits in invnetion are meant for the bomber build.

I’d be really interested to hear sigils/runes and gearing stats of people who run this build type in sPvP and PvE. Please share!
I’m running something similar and enjoy it, but I’m not quite sure how I want to go with gear (in any play type).
I run Bombs/Grenades. My build is similar to the OP’s except I put 10 points into Tools instead of Alchemy for the really nice Speed Boost. I also take Grenade Range for my Grandmaster skill in Explosives.
I’m always amazed that I can run right through enemy zergs without drawing much attention. They are so focused on my zerg that they don’t notice high power bombs dropping all around them.
As to stats… I go with as much Power as I can get. All other stats are secondary. I don’t sweat Vitality or Toughness too much because I will be easily burned down if focused. I try to move quickly and constantly to avoid that happening.
If you ignore toughness or vitality, might as well go power and critical damage. I tested this and the damage is good but I notice that I die fast.imho you need some buffer to your survivability (points on toughness or vitality) to be effective and functional.

I thought about that and am thinking this:

Although I’m not entirely crazy about the Cloaking Device.

I run with the just the default gear you get when you first enter sPvP as the runes (superior engineer runes or something) stack toughness and condition dmg, not sure if the sigil even effects bombs because its on your weapon.
I haven’t really even looked at any sort of min/max perfection build as it’s alot of fun and effective as is.
I like to think there’s even more potential to unlock when I start paying attention to the stats, but I’m seriously having too much fun to care at the moment.
Good to see I’m not the only one who’s found this fun playstyle to be effective
Elixir U doesn’t stop Elixir infused bombs from healing you btw. Dunno if that’s intended or a bug
Another thing about the bomberman build that is great. The PVP mob gets discouraged chasing after you when they see they have to go through a line of bombs that you keep dropping while running away.
That’s definitely where i got the “bomberman” vibe from.. leaving a trail of bombs behind me for anyone dumb enough to follow.

i thought about this and tested it. and you’re right. Rifles are meant for high power bomber engi.
i have 25 in explosives, 20 in rifle/guns, 15 in inventions, and 10 in alchemy. works good for me.

I’ve tested this too, and ever since live, all the way up until today, the Big Ol’ Bomb does not have a working blast finisher, even though the tool tip says it does.
The blast finishers we have access to are:
turret detonations
supply crate
rocket boots
magnetic inversion on the shield
throw mine

I hit lv 60 the other night and finally got access to the 3rd tier of traits and knew I was going to get elixir infused bombs. I’m loving bomberman. I’m mostly focused on PvE content, but I think I’ll start doing WvW before the end of the month for the monthly achievement kills.
The goal of my build was to be as bulky as possible and support my party/DE group, notably the melee with constant heals. Going only 10 into Demolitions for the bomb drop when dodging and increased radius so more people could get healed, and my utility bombs would provide more protection (notably smoke bomb). I think using the 10-20 I would’ve spent for more damage was better spent in Alchemy. Vitality to help deal with conditions (which are my only threat due to the obscene amount of toughness I have from Cleric gear, which is +pow, +tough, +heal) and to bring cleanses to the group. Lastly 10 in Tools for swiftness to get around the map, but I may change that to 10 more in Alchemy for dungeons.

Also, just to be sure, the heal from elixir-infused bombs scales off of healing power, right? Or power? Or both? I’m not entirely sure.
