PVP Engineers,
I have been playing an offensive roamer engineer (mostly condi HGH) since I started pvp on my engineer. Since the last patch, I decided to try something different and started building a Bunker engineer focused on survivability through blocks, dodges and healing but also on using conditions (mainly confusion stacks) to outlast my opponents on the point.

I have played around with this build a bit in tournaments and hotjoins and it seems effective at surviving to an extent that it usually takes at least 3 people to lock me down enough to kill me. I still feel like there are many improvements that could be made and I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for tweaks or even fully new builds that could help me make a better bunker engineer.

Pros:
- Many knockbacks, stuns or pulls to disrupt those glass cannons without stability.
- Can stack up confusion quickly.
- Many strong healing abilities on a fairly low CD (I almost always pick up my turret after I overcharge).
- Good combo field combinations allowing for different playstyles.

Cons:
- Does not seem very effective against other bunkers (no stability and not enough condis to pressure).
- Only one stun break (Healing Mist).
- Very dependent on dodging so immobilization locks me down a lot worse than I like.
- Low vitality, which makes it difficult to take advantage of Automated Response.

A couple of traits I’ve thought about switching around:

Explosives: Switching to Incendiary Powder (V) to keep up more condition damage while losing out on the AOE increase. This would hurt my bomb presence on the point but it could be worth it to increase my consistent damage output.

Inventions: Stabilized Armor (IV) or Cloaking Device (VI). I believe either of these could increase my survivability, just not sure if losing my Reinforced and Protective Shield would be good.

Alchemy: Protection Injection (VI) instead of Backpack Regenerator. Probably be more worth it if I swapped Protective Shield out of inventions.

Any advice the engineer community can give me is welcome!

I run a knock down bunker in spvp been my favorite for it over the last few months on my phone atm so I’ll have to post it for you later but it’s got an amazing tank 1 fight I did I managed to take a look at the damage breakdown i ate a total of 68k damage from 3 people as well as de capping the point from them, for team fights it does insane amounts of aoe healing I should probly add to it does have the ability to put on a lot of condition pressure and with all the cc you have you can stun train people to death, also if you play on Na servers I don’t mind getting in game and showing you in person

  • Swap Tool Kit for Elixir S.
  • Swap invigorating speed (alch 1) for protection injection (alch 6)
  • Take your points out of tools, put them in inventions for Elixir Infused Bombs

You lose: a block, some speed, some vigor.

You gain: better stats, invuln + stability/stealth, protection when you most need it and healing bombs.

P.S. One thing about Cloaking Device: all decent players know you’re still there, so they just keep swinging. It’s not worth it in the slightest.

I actually think elixir S is a crutch that could be replaced with rocket boots or tool kit. The reason is that for stealth you can just lay down smoke bomb for stomping, or blast finish it to escape. Rocket boots will give you great escape from immobilize bursts, or you could stick with tool kit and block.
I also use offhand pistol instead of shield for the burn and chaining glue shot with glue bomb and supply crate for ultimate lockdown.
I agree with Brew Pinch, protection > vigor, especially if you can get almost perma protection.
Another option for additional survivability would be to remove 5 pts from inventions (since my build doesn’t use shield), and put them into tools for resetting the cooldown of all your toolbelt skills at 25% hp.
