Just as the title sudgests, I’m looking to do a flamethrower build and I am fairly new to engi so im not sure what traits are worth it and what isnt. So example builds and some reasoning would be very helpful.

I would honestly wait till the feature patch before giving off flamethrower builds. With the rune and sigil changes, we miiiiiiight be open to more true ft builds

with traits, runes, and sigils, you can get an average of +49% damage which is pretty solid. the empty utility slot can be whatever you want from throw mine to rocket boots to elixir s or elixir r. pick whatever utility you like best.

I’dd recommend it to use as a utility tool in WvW.
You can:
- Knockback
- Blind
- Fire Field (might)
- Burning at any time (With the Toolbelt skill and the burning on crit trait)

With these things I’dd recommend not to use it as a main weapon, but as a tool. Swiftly swap to the kit whenever you need something in it.

Exactly what I would have said. FT builds now are so-so, not that great but if you love the FT you can make it work. With the patch though FT builds could get better we’ll have to see how runes/sigils change in combination with our traits.
