Hey, I only have about 200 hours on my engie, but I’m interested in playing him full time. I’m interested in Cele gear, my question is for WvW gear. Do I run cele trinkets aswell? or like pvt mixed with zerk? What trinket stats should I run as cele engie.

Also, Runes. Currently I’m using vamp with my soldier set, I was thinking lysaa since i run Mortar. Or maybe like balthazar for some burn dps.

Some advice from the people still running cele would be appreciated!

Thanks!

It’s difficult to justify celestial on engi post-patch since they moved incendiary powder to firearms and lowered the scaling on conditions. To be viable, you need to run Alchemy for might stacking to bolster both condi and direct damage via elixirs, Firearms for IP, crit bleeds, chemical rounds, etc. and Explosives for nades+related traits.

This leaves you without Tools, which is extremely useful in every build because of the op Kinetic Battery and perma swiftness utility it offers. You’re also dedicating 1-2 utility slots to elixirs to generate might and to nades for cover condis and additional pressure, meaning you won’t be running Tool Kit for that extra block, unblockable pull and pry bar.

If you play p/s well you may be able to get away with just having OH shield and double blasting healing turret when kitten hits the fan, but you’re going to have to play perfectly, which still may not even be enough against certain enemy group comps (if you’re talking small group roaming).

If you’re still eager to try it, I’d run something like this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQJAqelUUh6rY1VwELQ+FLsFF4HWiBgYHNFPxXSdhHAA-TlhMwAA2fAtqK4U+tUPAYlg2VrgUAwMGA-w

Threw the stats together in a couple of seconds, can definitely tweak to suit preference.

elite specs ruined pvp.

What are you gonna put into your utility slots? are you going to take the “firearms” traitline? If you dont already have cele gear maybe answering those question and deciding later if cele are the best stats for your build and worth the effort/money crafting.

I think most people use runes with power stats. condi damage can be increased with condi duration increase like foods and also power runes.

this is what i run in wvw:

Like Renny said, celestial is not a good idea on engineer these days.

You now have access to less burning, which is the most important condition for damage. Condition need more stats to be as effective as before. Celestial is good on Necro and Elementalist because they have build that give a good amount of might. Engineer used to be like that but not anymore. The might was nerf, the Sigil of Battle was nerf, and this leave you with limited amout of might. Not enough for your condition to be threatening.

So with less conditions and with conditions that hit not as hard as they used to, celestial doesn’t really have a good position on the engineer right now. It’s especially not worth it in WvW where it can be costly and long to craft celestial stuff.

You can mix up cele equipment with Bersi / Sinister stats depending on how offensive you want to be. Cele gives you the sustain, while Bersi increases your spike burst, and Sinister improves you´re cleave dmg and long time preasure.
Just make shure that you´re traids fit in you´re job.

The rune choice depends on which job you focus on, and which traids you choose.
For example if you´re running the incendary powder and the condi duration buff food, the rune of Balthazar is not a good choice, since you´re already at 73% Burning duration, and you´d waste 28% from the Rune Bonus. In that case a good option for the condi duration would be nightmare runes with the 15% overall condi duration.

However Lyssa Runes don´t seem to be a good choice to me. I´ve also tried them out for a while, and it strongly limits you in terms of switching to you´re mortar kit, becaus the icd of the Rune is also activated when you switch to the mortar kit with NOT ONE condition on you.
I prefer the sigil of cleansing, and sometimes a permanent passive condi duration reduction rune in addition to that. The sigil of cleansing removes one condition from you on any weaponswap with an icd of nine seconds, and it only activates the cd when it realy removed a condition.

I prefer Hoelbrak becaus of the power stats, since my main job in our raid is to cleave and support stuff.
So if you also run in the backline for cleave, perma preasure, or spike or whatsoever, I would recoment you to also go for hoelbrak.

But I´ve also been running Melandru for a while when I was running in the front line ( in the old bomb-healer times ), and I can realy recommend melandru if you want to keep up with the meeles, since you don´t have a reliable self stability.
However if you run in the front line, and you don´t trust in you´re guards without and doubt, I´d also go for two stunbreaks, meaning 2 out of EG, Elixier S, or slickshoes (slicks are realy strong since the stability was changed).
You could also choose only one of them and go for the battery traid in the tools line, but keep in mind that this traid is as unreliable as it´s versatile ^^ just don´t base you´re whole battle tactics around it.
