Im just curious why people make ascended celestial armor for their engi? Thief and ranger use medium armor but on both you wouldn’t use celestial so why do ppl make ascended cele? is it just the minimal stat difference? Cause i mean its not like your going to be using it in fractals with agony resistance (assassin’s is just better dps) and is it rly worth the extra guard dmg on infusions?

TLDR: Ascended cele worth it? Im thinking of making exotic but don’t wanna waste my time gated quartz

Only if you really like WvW roaming on a Cele Engi, I’d imagine.

thats kinda what i figured. for me my guild is a havoc guild and cele engi is good for our havoc group but i roam with SD build and PvE with vun stacking assassin’s grenade build so im assume Exoctic will be enough for me. if anyone can tell me why ascended is the way to go over exotic im still open to listening but atm it seems the cost isnt worth the payback.

I’d imagine it’s because, all the combined celestial stats are much higher than the combined power/condition stats on armour sets. Hence, the celestial ascended gear much further increases this gap. Just my guess anyways.

I just made my full exotic celestial armor yesterday, i gotta say I’m really enjoying it.. I’m a WvW guy and it’s pretty awesome to use in havoc group with stacks, food and nourishment, u do pretty decent crit dmg and condi with good enough sustain especially roaming with a thief with venom share, it’s fun.. I’m using exotic armor, ascended trinkets and legendary rifle as i don’t see the need for ascended armor because i don’t do fractals..

yea this thread pretty much cleared up any doubts i had about exotic celestial. Ill make the exotic celestial armor for havoc and make ascended Assassin for FotM. Ty guys

the reason to make ascended for wvw is that wvw infusions allow engi to solo up to keeps with ease. basically you can pull stunts like fight people in their own camps when they think theyll have an advantage because of the guards. it only works on a person once, maybe twice if theyre dumb, but its a huge surprise factor for a feelgood win.

Engineer can use all the stats involved in celestial, and with the combination of it and might to make up for the low power, can make for a strong combo (though a bit nerfed as of late).

However, the time gate on the things mean that unless you plan in advance and already have 400 leatherworker, then that would be pretty bothersome, and you’d be better off mixing stuff with more conventional stats, and perhaps get ascended celestial some day instead.
