Celestial Trinkets ect
Engis and Eles get the most out of celest, it’s true.
That said, with the changes to crit (and other mechanics) happening in March still somewhat up in the air, you might consider holding off on committing to anything specific.
They are decent if you have a balanced build. I use Celestial trinkets myself and get much use out of them. I run a balanced HGH Rifle dueling build, hybrid between power and condi-damage. My goal is to take a hit if I need to, being self sufficient, but dish out pain too. Celestial lets me get a little bit of everything, which is exactly what I want.

Celestial Armour and not Trinkets is what you should be aiming for.
Celestial Trinkets have inferior Critical Damage increases compared to Berserker, Valkyries and Cavalier’s trinkets, which makes their inclusion in a direct-damage focused build problematic. Armour on the other hand has superior or equal amounts of Critical Damage in all slots and is therefore superior – especially in the Shoulders, Gloves and Boots. If you’re after a little bit of everything, the best place to start replacing is there. Obviously the gains are higher when you go after the Chest, Helm and Legs, but you may want to use your “main stat” combination in those for the larger bonuses.
- The point is that you should aim for making your armour as invariant as possible, as skins and Transmutation cost a lot of gold and/or time – as do runes.
- On the other hand, one can swap Trinkets in and out with ease given the broad base Celestial gives you to start with.
For Trinkets, it is almost never worth using Celestial for either Direct damage or Condition damage, as the gains are inferior in both. Trinkets are where your customisation can make the most impact and as such you should focus your efforts there.
In PVP, Celestial Amulet and Jewel is trash for all professions, including both Engineer and Elementalist – the two professions touted to be the “best to take Celestial with” due to their hybrid damage nature and requirements for most stats. Unfortunately, Celestial in PVP is massively underbudgeted considering the gains other Amulets and Jewels give, and Condition and Critical Damage there is also inferior, which puts the nail in the coffin.

Everything that MonMalthias said is true.
…for now.
Anet is changing critical damage to Ferocity (in March iirc) and it could very well change the levels on many armors/trinkets, including Celestial. I’d hold off on sinking laurels or gold into anything until that update and we see what changes.

Anet plans to buff celestial gear. They’re aware of celestial getting hit hardest with the ferocity change and are going to be buffing the overall stats of celestial to help compensate. As far as armor vs trinkets, chest and rings are nearly identical. This is a good setup and one I’ve been running for months; it works exceptionally well.

These are both very true. I would hold off on investing in anything Celestial for now until it is clearer to what extent Celestial is going to be nerfed or buffed as a result of the changes. Celestial in particular will be hit the hardest by the Critical damage change – the buff to other “all stats” will need to be big enough. Whether it is big enough or not is the question up in the air at this point.

I use celestial almost exclusively.
It works well and with little tweaks can be useful to you.
No need to cookie cutter, if you wanna tweak go nuts.
