Chain Lightning Flamethrower Build Experiment
Incendiary Ammo has way too long a cooldown to work well with Static Discharge.
Indeed it does, but nonetheless it’s still Static Discharge hit. But you also have Surprise shot and the Elixir toolbelt skills aren’t on a very long cooldown.
I say you remove flashy words from topic and just post: i made another HGH build, but i like flamethrower, ok, guys?

Sorry but this really sounds like a mix between Static Discharge and the Flamethrower—both of which require specialized trait and utility skill selection to be good options.
Static Discharge is a burst build, therefore is better used with Utility Goggles + Analyze for 20% critical chance and 10% increased damage. That’s the one thing, on top of Surprise Shot’s low cooldown, that actually makes it worth using. Without it, you’re kind of just settling into a middle ground that sounds a lot more like mediocrity.
The same with the Flamethrower. Why run HGH when you have only one elixir on your bar? Use something else that’s actually going to more consistently bring you up to par with pure FT builds. Like Protection Injection. Or even just Cleansing Formula 409.
With the loss of Incendiary Powder in Explosives, you’re shaving 10% of Flame Jet’s damage because you’re not consistently burning. Never mind the addition damage from the burn itself.
Yea, I gotcha. I appreciate the input. It was just a build experiment that made a combination of builds I like. This was aimed more or less towards a power-heavy/consistent damage build.
But there are 2 elixirs on the toolbar: Elixir H and Elixir B.
And there is a quite good uptime on Fury, which Utility Goggles give, with Elixir B and it’s toolbet skill. The only thing missing is the extra stacks of Vuln. But the groups I run with usually have quite a bit of Vulnerability along with the proc chances with the FT.
I’m running HGH just for the extra damage, but it would be easy to trait out of HGH and go for more tanky/supportive if needed. But this was a more damage based build.
And you definitely have a point with the loss of Incendiary Powder. My prior FT build consisted of that instead of static discharge.
Also another thing is that this build can be easily set up for more support with a switch of traits, as you can switch in the Elixir Gun.
But I really do appreciate the input. This was more or less just a personalized build for interchangablility between damage and support.
I think you have a good thing going with this build—it’s easily the most creative flamethrower build I’ve seen. If you do give up HGH, I think you’ll find your options open up quite a bit.
Yea, this could apply a lot of different variations to it. I personally like the Alchemy because of the boon duration and HGH is a nice might stack. Plus alchemy goes hand in hand with a support style, as I mentioned earlier. If you come up with anything else, feel free to post! ^-^
you could run a power build with FT, Rifle turret, tool kit
Spike, FT #2, throw wrench/surprise shot, whatever rifle attack.. all attacks hit at once making it a nice burst for sPvP. 10-15k+ dmg if crits
Hmm. that sounds like a really good power build. I’m gonna test that out. And I’m gonna assume that the points are taken out of alchemy and put more into Tools?
