Is it worth picking Charr as engineer race for just the hidden pistol toolskill?

Let me hear your opinions Im thinking of rerolling my Norn engineer. Only problem is i dont really like how armor looks on the Charr.

I never use the hidden pistol skill or its toolbelt skill. Race skills tend to suck compared to class skills.

Armor does look crappy on Charr, why the Charr culture armor isnt steampunk or clockwork designed is beyond me. If any thing I would label it tribal, like their dance (so bad).

I would not reroll just for the skill.

It’s Rascal armour with Anonymity Hood which I got off my Thief using a transmutation stone.

Is the hidden pistol toolkit still bugged btw, are you still holding the pistols wrong or have they fixed that?

Charr Engineer is pure awesomeness, close to the Charr Necromancer.

And they can have access to some really cool armors.

My only gripe with picking charr is that even though everyones base movement speed is the same, the animation just feels slower or slugging. Does anyone else get this?

Sigh, i was hoping they’d fixed that little issue by now :o
Might not seem like a big deal but stuff like that annoys me to no end ^^

Ya I really noticed this when my lame brother couldn’t pass the Clock Tower JP so I logged on to his Charr to do it for him.
What a kittening pain that was.
Seems like they are running in place sometimes and the most annoying thing was figuring out that even though they are running on all fours the jump animation still goes off the back feet. So you actually have to time your jumps a little later than you would think.

Not nearly as awesome as my Tiny Asura and the Mighty Camera Spazzout!

Yes but well, my first character was a Charr, can’t complain, especially when most of humans / asuras look exactly the same, you can actually manage to look deliciously kitten when choosing Silvari or Charr, and that’s primordial.

Even though I never have used Hidden Pistol, I do love my Kitty Engineer and recommend making one. Making a Charr look interesting with medium armor does take some research. Here is my Charr Engineer, another option is to use the Rascal armor.

I like sylvari engis because it kind of goes against the nature side of things. Dat dere contrast.

You will most likely not use the racial skills so don’t make you choice based on this.

I still suggest you pick a Charr as your engineer. Humans are so overrated and boring I don’t even care to look at them no matter how fancy they customized their armor.

I use it sometimes, the skill delivers quite alot of damage on a short cooldown, and can deserve a room in a Rifle/Static Discharge build. The Hidden Pistol itself can be handy, I used to level with that.

The charr racials are neat especially for engineers with the toolbelt abilitys. For awhile when you have the pop-gun rifle skin, using the toolbelt Hidden Pistols ability would actually shoot alot of pop-gun noises. It may or may not of been fixed but ill have to check when i get home from work.

The charr elites arent too bad, best of course is Charrzooka followed by Warband Support, I do not find Artillery Barage all that great due to its short range.

Damage isnt too bad for the toolbelt ability for Hidden Pistols, alot of chances to crit in a short amount of time is good if u have sigils/traits that proc off crits.

Personally, I think Asura racials have the best toolbelt

I have two comments:

1. To the person who said the Charr dance is bad, YOU’RE BAD. That dance is the best.

2. Charr Engineers are pretty awesome. I like the lore and enjoyed my Charr. However, at level 61 I ended up starting a Sylvari Engineer instead. Charr have very few leather gear options that look good, and I like to change my outfit a lot.

If you’re okay with having only one or two sets of gear that look good, then go for it! You get the benefit of having an awesome character with a cool voice and some interesting lore (plus Rytlock, enough said).

If you’re like me and prefer to have a lot of clothing options, I’d recommend not rolling a leather wearer But if you’re set on Engineer like I was, I’d probably opt for a different race than Charr, just because so few sets look good on Charr.

Either way, I’d probably steer clear of Human (so boring and overplayed, though the females can be pretty kitten hawt). Norn are better than Human, but not by a huge margin :P The female Norn have way better face and hair options than Humans, at least.

I’d say that Hidden Pistol is a good attack, being an extra evade for you with a little damage. I wonder what the Power coefficient is on this skill. Probably equal to #1’s damage.

The toolbelt skill is similar to the thief’s p/p Unload skill. If you have the Tools 15 point minor trait, you get this skill renewed.

Warband support can be interesting, especially since the sword-n-board warrior has a rushing stun. The damage isn’t great, but having an extra stun (and occasional knockback from the bowman) is helpful.

Charrzooka? The name means awesome! Its range is fair, being 1200 and a lot of fire condition damage. I swap this out with Supply Drop often enough to watch people run around on fire.

They’re interesting. But do you plan on actually using them for more than brief experimentation and fun? Do you see them fitting into builds for you?

I didn’t use my Asura racials much past lvl 20. I still do use the racial golem elites tho in open world PvE. That might be something to consider.

Krytan armor. Charrs must struggle in order to find good looking armors.

The only reason I didn’t roll a Charr was because they’re a pain in the kitten to draw.

As I LOVE to draw my MMO Characters.

And Charr Engineers aren’t breaking the mold, NORN ENGINEERS ARE!
