Cleric Vs Apothecary for WvW
I’ve been playing apothecary/prosperity set with Pistol Shield and triple kit (bomb, elixir, tool) and 10-0-30-20-10 and it plays really well.

I’ve been using apothecary’s in a support-oriented build and it works quite well. I my primary source of damage was going to be direct damage, I would try to work in cleric’s gear instead, but I use condition damage in the aforementioned build, so apothecary’s is the better choice for that.
Another choice is something like magi’s, but I’m not sure how well that would work out on engg.
Example of apothecary roaming in wvw. Don’t know his exact trait allocation, and idr if he shows it.
for solo roaming, Apoth defensively because it has way more killing power than clerics because of conditions. In zerg fighting tho(at least large zergs) condition dmg either doesn’t kill fast enough or is repeatedly cleansed, which is why i prefer clerics in zergs.
as a side note according to my guild, settlers armor is better than apoth because of the increase with toughness.
edit: Apoth screams eg oriented build imo.
Cleric meshes well with healing bomb builds
The build in my sig is apothecary, really good for roaming solo, especially 1vx

I’d say the settler’s armor is better if you want to dump more heavily into condi damage, whereas the apothecary’s is much better if you want to dump into healing power. I use apothecary’s in my support-oriented build, which makes use of runes of the water. I can actually heal myself from about 10% HP to about 90-95% ever 20ish seconds, although it requires blasting into a water field. I do use elixir gun in it as well, which is extremely handy.
It works well in solo roaming, but I think settler’s gear would probably be a better choice overall for roaming.
In any case, the trick with using a toughness+healing power build is to ensure you heal yourself effectively. If the enemy is able to shut down your healing, you won’t end up being as durable as builds with a good vitality-toughness balance. That means you can’t flub up the healing turret boom-boom stuff.
