So I’m on my condi Mesmer and I come across this Engineer. I’m like ok, it’s an engi and this shouldn’t be any problem at all really as I’ve never had any trouble with engis of any kind before at all. This was different….this guy was different……..He threw fire in my face and I had like 9 or 10 burning stacks on me instantly along with poison and bleeding. I think I was dead before I could hit my Mantra Condi Cleanse, lol. Good times……..My Engi should be 80 by the weekend :-) I’ve got to come up with a nice condi build to run with for solo roaming as that’s all I like to do.

inbetween damage consider morter 4 + 5, Egun 5. they are great for sustain and blinding all those damed clones etc ;P

Are you a lil booka from JQ or TC and were you playing around 8-10 pm est last night? If so then it probably was you lol. Thanks for the info!

You must be really really slow if 10 burn stacks kill you before you can hit your mantra. Must have taken you like 5 seconds … well rather more.

as much as i love my engi…i just can’t use FT. I feel it is a “slow” kit and just not the same playstlyle I’m use too on engi. :[

That might have been me as I was SPVPing exactly at that time and yes, kileld mesmers. FYi its more then just FT. I use pistol/pistol then FT. Unfortunately, the pistol needs to be melee range for the most damage but when I get my full rotation off, I can drop literally anyone, at times it is difficult to get off though cuz am myself too squishy when out of CDs.

My fastest damage rotation is: Incindiery Ammo (my F2), Blowtorch (pistol 4), Flamethrower 4 if target is crippled chileld or immobilized, otherwise staright to FT1.
If I get the Ft4 on target I will follow up with my F5, which is a double Orbital Strike, then proceed with FT.

if I am closing in on target from long range I go mortar, 1, 2 and 4 to get them to waste their CDs as much as possible, then mortar 3, then pistol 3 pistol 2 then pistol 4 and go into FT rotation. I avoid the pistol when fighting thieves and mesmers for obvious reasons except to open up with blowtorch (pistol 4).

Why I didnt pick condis on mortar in a condi build ? Simple, fights are too fast, By time I go through pistol and FT even basic rotation eitehr me or my opponent are long dead. I use the mortar more for combo fields for support and ranger counter. Also love the double blast from my F5, double heals from water field are really nice. Let my team run in, let them all fight pop it on them from long range, its great support.

This build has low crit rate but its irrelevant as most fights I have fury anyways. There are many combinations you can get off with this, remember your F5 is a double blast finisher and between mortar and FT you can pop many different fields. Though F+Pistol4+ FT is the bread and butter of it.

Also, I use a variant of this for WvW and another variant for PvE, works great all-around.

Thank you for the kick in the butt. Have been trying to get comfortable with Rabid, but I think that the carrion would be better. Would miss the Crit chance, but it would be tolerable.
Will have to think about those traits, but am anxious to try it out.

P.S. I sorta agree that FT feels slow (one-dimensional); pistols are so much fun. Need to add a shield for those pesky rangers.

Thing is dude, I use traits to get an effective 44% crit chance most if the time, which is enough for condi/hybrid. Also a great protection uptime to mitigate low armour.

With the traits which give you 10% krit in Melee Rage (240) and fury for every crit in 240 range you have enough crit, so you can go carrion or dire i use Dire with a mix of rabid rings and amulets. I use P/P and more focused on Condition but still practice with FT.
