I built a Direct damage boon duration elixar build engineer. the intent was to make him a commander in WvW witch i have done

this is a vid i made (nothing fantastic) of WvW ive done with him. I find this fits my play style and may help ppl find there own.

being a WvW build i need to be tanky with decent DPS the result was this build.

p/p is fun and all but as someone that mains Rifle id like the details!!

Power/Precision/CD with a bit of vitality thrown in by the looks of it, most likely on the weapon. I don’t mean to react with hostility or anything but you’re just doing #1 while outnumbering a bunch of randoms. I understand if you get your kicks from it; seems to be a thing among the everyman on MMOs these days, but to me it isn’t clear what you’re after.

If your intent was to produce a commander, then I’d argue an Engineer isn’t the toon you should play, especially a build that has no survivability, bar getting lucky on Elixir X. What grinds my gears is seeing people with commander tags who do absolutely kitten all for the actual objectives but whatever.

I commend you for encouraging people to find their own playstyles though. I’d still wager you’d have better luck being a rifle spammer as a Warrior. Engineer simply does not work like that without significant shortcomings.

Unfortunately true, video mostly shows #1 on smaller groups or players running away. That’s fine really if that’s how you like to play but it doesn’t say much about the viability of your build in general.

IMHO a tanky engineer build would be much better suited to being commander. One of the worst things I’ve seen commanders do is rush in, die instantly, and then complain on /map how they died because they solo charged. People don’t listen to orders quite as much as they like to simply follow your badge, so being able to take a little heat is a huge advantage. A P/S engineer with Tool Kit and Elixir S could literally stand in the middle blocking and invulnerable until his group catches up, while not so smart enemy players would likely target him first and waste their attacks as they’re getting murdered.

Fair enough comments, though i do agree we did outnumber them in the vid (most of the time not all) this fotage was filmed in one nite over like 2 hours. you cant formulate a judgement on one nite that we happend to outnumber them.

in responce to yor glass cannon acusation. you havent even seen my build. what is i said i have 21k helth ans 2.35k Armour rating with a elixar S pop at 25% hp a large amount of condition removal and still pull out 2.5k crits on the auto attack?

My gaurdian (who is tanky as hell) has 17k hp and 2.6k Armour rating dosent stand a chance against some of the stuff this Engineer can servive through.

further more to the post above:

this is a Boon build the bace stats are very likely to change up alot. watch in the vid how many boons i have and what they are. 90% of the time i have like 4-5 different boons up including 4-9 stacks of might, fury, protection (33% damage reduction n top of my 2.35k armour rating) swiftness, vigar (more dodging) and other random boons also.

Yes, the video does a poor job showing what your build can do, nor do I see you effectively using the build to its full advantage is a group fight. With your Boon Duration (from Alchemy), you’d have done your team a great service by grouping up and Toss Elixir B and H. How about Toss Elixir U? Maybe you do normally, maybe you don’t; the video shows none of that.

Worst of all, this build relies on RNG, when a Guardian can output just about the same Boons on demand.
